Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Baltimore, Maryland is seeking a Sr. Principal Microelectronics Product/Device Engineer for our Advanced Technology Laboratory where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production as well as emerging programs.
The Microelectronics Product/Device Engineer considers the entire life cycle of a product and is the production interface between design, fabrication and test. The qualified individual should possess an in-depth knowledge of digital and RF circuit design and test as well as knowledge or experience with solid state device physics, Front End of Line (FEOL) and Back End of Line (BEOL) device processing. Primary duties involve performing data analysis activities to support the development and qualification of novel superconducting circuits, working with design and test to understand physical and electrical sensitivities. Other duties include characterizing and trending circuit performance; defining and benchmarking critical parameters and test vehicles; coordinating experiments and analyzing experimental data; performing device debug and root cause analysis; supporting yield improvement efforts, and manufacturing cost reduction, as well as characterizing device reliability. Assist customers in developing performance specifications and customer testing of complex devices. Other assignments may include product qualification support, assembly process support, maintaining production documentation and product engineering review.
The chosen candidate must have an aptitude for data manipulation and analysis via tools such as JMP and/or custom programming via languages such as Python. He/she must also have the ability to communicate with employees at all levels in the organization and be able to demonstrate excellent problem solving, data analysis, and critical thinking skills.
•Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Engineering or other closely related technical field with 14 years of relevant experience (12 years with an MS; 9 years with a PhD)
•A strong background in solid state device physics, digital and RF circuit design and test.
•Experience with data analysis on large datasets via tools such as JMP and Python.
•Experience with semiconductor process flows with critical dimensions at 250 nm or less and test vehicle development and benchmarking.
•Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
•PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics or other relevant engineering physical science discipline
