This position is for a mission-ground-solution systems-engineering common services subsystem lead with the industry leading provider of end to end space and launch systems and capabilities serving national security, civil and commercial customers.

The program is looking for an innovative and dynamic systems engineer to lead the development of cutting edge solutions as part of our mission ground software systems engineering team. You'll join a larger fast-paced space-mission systems engineering integration and test (SEIT) agile development effort with a focus on system engineering of mission ground software.

In this position you will:

  • Serve as the lead technical and program expert for the mission ground common services subsystem software

  • Decompose and interpret customer's statement of work

  • Define and manage schedule of activities required to meet program milestones

  • Define and maintain the mission ground common services subsystem software technical baseline

  • Manage mission ground risks

  • Perform to the program plan using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFeĀ®) principles

  • Review and evaluate compliance documents (e.g. specifications, standards, interface compliance documents)

  • Establish functional and technical specifications for mission ground common services subsystem software

  • Assure integration of spacecraft mission planning subsystem software with other mission ground software subsystems

  • Contribute to the development of SysML models to define system behaviors, drive interface design, and manage the mission ground software architecture baseline

  • Assure mission ground software requirements are verifiable and appropriately allocated

  • Contribute to the development of Operations Concepts

  • Work toward a DevSecOps mission ground software development roadmap that assures verification, validation, deployment, and maintenance success.

  • Plan for the development of mission ground software documentation (e.g. user guides, interface definition documents, version description documents)

  • Plan for compliance with cybersecurity requirements

  • Collaborate with a team of geographically remote subject matter experts

  • Represent the mission ground common services subsystem software team in program and technical reviews with our customer

  • Own the performance and execution of the systems engineering for the mission ground common services subsystem software


Basic Qualifications:

  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance or SCI access

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and analytic skills

  • Experience with Agile development framework

  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Experience in one or more of the following: requirements definition, ConOps, Context Diagram, Sequence Diagram, and mission scenario development, and verification

  • Experience with development & deployment large and diverse software packages

  • Experience with integration of microservices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the Tasking, Collection, Planning, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TCPED) chain

  • Detailed Experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) architectures

  • Detailed Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) architectures

  • Detailed Experience with Data as a Service (DaaS) architectures

  • Detailed Experience with NoSQL, MongoDB, or similar

  • Detailed experience with JMS, AMQP, or similar messaging protocols

  • Experience with RESTful Web Services

  • Familiarity with Goddard Mission Services Evolution Center (GMSEC) Architecture

  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) languages (SysML/UML) and concepts

  • Experience with JAVA, C++, or similar coding language

  • Detailed understanding of software development and deployment cycle

  • Knowledge of industry best practices for software deployment and maintenance

  • Large program experience

  • Strong customer relationship experience

  • Direct experience using the DOORS Requirements Management Database

  • Ability to facilitate group discussions and close on technical solutions with other senior leadership

  • Experience participating in or leading internal and external design reviews
