Northrop Grumman PGSD has an opening for a Director 1- Business Development to lead business development efforts for a complex portfolio of ongoing programs and growth opportunities. The Business Development Director position is a strategic and high visibility leadership opportunity, reporting directly to the Payload and Ground Systems Division Strategy and Business Development Director as part of the growth-oriented and customer-focused leadership team. The Director will be responsible for implementing business development processes across market segments and operating units to keep current programs sold and drive additional growth, as well as collaborating across the company to help define, coordinate, and integrate synergistic business strategies.
This Director will manage a team of highly capable business development managers to efficiently effect business growth. He/she must be capable of broad, strategic thinking with respect to emerging customer needs, competitive positioning, and requisite capabilities, with the ability to guide the organization toward the strategic and tactical actions necessary to optimize growth for the business. In doing so, the Director will develop and execute growth strategies, manage the new business pipeline, identify new business opportunities, establish pursuit priorities, and support the development of successful capture plans.
Finally this Director will utilize existing customer relationships, provide the Voice of the Customer analysis, develop Industry relationships as partners or key suppliers, and develop engagement strategies for the PGSD VP/GM, Strategy & BD Director and select business unit program offices.
Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conduct market, customer, competitor assessments, and pipeline analysis to support PGSD growth strategy for domestic and international opportunities
Develop and manage the long-range opportunity pipeline to support the AOP/LRSP process
Develop artifacts in support of communicating the strategy, pipeline and awards
Demonstrated expertise in customer shaping and engagement strategies. Plan and develop PGSD VP/GM, Strategy & BD Director and select Business Unit customer engagements and cadence while working with Government Relations and utilizing existing customer relationships
Plan and execute program advocacy and protect efforts working with Government Relations
Support PGSD Business Unit market-segment research, strategy development and captures
Support the internal investment priority and alignment
Participate and support Business Strategy Team (BST) and Cross-Sector efforts across NGC
Collaborate with Division/Sector BD counterparts on initiatives/actions to meet objectives
Serve as a focal point for responding to Sector/Division business development actions with high quality inputs
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and 10+ years of relevant experience in business development, strategy development, capture leadership and/or program management
5+ years of team leadership/management experience
Ability to build, organize and lead a business development team with a vision for success and capable of delegating responsibilities to the appropriate team members
Knowledge of IC & DoD requirements, budgeting, and acquisition processes
Experience executing defense industry business development processes
Experience with USG space mission areas
Strong understanding of USG customer community with established relevant relationships
Exceptional communication, collaboration and organizational skills, including the ability to successfully interface with executives and senior leaders
US Citizenship required
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain TS Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Top Secret or SCI clearance or current in-scope SSBI
15+ years of business development or related experience growing and prosecuting a diverse new business pipeline in the defense sector
Master's degree in business, advanced technical or national security strategy field
Demonstrated ability to support/maintain robust competitive assessments, identifying strengths and weaknesses, win discriminators/themes, and supporting CA/PTW
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business areas and industry teammates to accomplish strategic objectives for the mission area
Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, deliver an extraordinary customer experience across our customer set, infusing strategic messaging into all elements of BU customer engagement
Support Operating Unit capture teams to translate customer needs/desires into specific requirements, identifying/tailoring company capabilities and solutions into high value proposition offerings, and supporting captures to effectively market the operating unit's products and capabilities to meet those needs
Experience in developing winning proposals and post-win customer satisfaction
Experience with International Business including the export process for Aerospace & Defense applications
Knowledge of Northrop Grumman internal processes, procedures, and organization including customer relationship management tools (example: Salesforce)
Salary Range: $177,400 - $266,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
