Northrop Grumman Material Planner - Supply Chain Planning Specialist in Lanham, Maryland

Northrop Grumman Space Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

This position is located in Lanham, Maryland.

Material Planning job responsibilities may include:

Analyzes and aggregates supply / demand requirements. Analyzes purchase material supply/demand position using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) tools. Plans inventory levels based on dependent and independent Bill-of-Materials (BOM) requirements.

Creates/reduces supply requirements based on inventory adjustments. Participates in long-term capacity and resource planning to ensure proper scheduling of new product line phase-ins as well as existing product line phase-outs. Interfaces with Source process area regarding inventory levels, working capital and other areas as needed.

Creates/releases requisitions. Receives/reviews requirements for non-standard parts. Analyzes lead times and identifies critical path procurements. Follows supplier progress on released purchase orders to manage the delivery dates and expedite delivery as necessary.

Participate in new program launch and procurement start-up. Identify opportunities to reduce cycle time to place purchase orders including expediting suppliers to submit quotes, working with functional areas to answer supplier questions regarding RFQs, working with functional areas to provide all necessary documentation for purchase order placement.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited institution

  • Professional experience in supply chain management, or related fields, to include business and financial planning, contracts administration, project management, logistics, or manufacturing

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking and innovative behaviors in past projects, roles or experiences

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in a regulated industry; to include Aerospace & Defense, Electronics Assembly, Electronics for Space Applications

  • SAP experience
