Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems' Sector is looking for a Director of Programs 1 as the Maintenance and Fabrication Solutions (MFS) Operating Unit Director and site leader at Lake Charles, LA

  • Responsible for development of technology-infused aircraft maintenance, modernization, and sustainment business growth. Define rationale for growth opportunities and conduct business case analysis. Support new business activities targeting change management, increasing scope and content on existing programs, and identifying new opportunities with existing and new customers.

  • Accountable for all Business Program & Financial Commitments (Orders, Sales, Profit and Cash). Lead Program and Financials Risk and Opportunities (R&O's) Management to achieve Financial Targets.

  • Review & Approve all New Business Proposals and Delegations including presentation of Commitment Reviews with Business Unit and Division Management.

  • Maintain current and actionable market-customer-pursuit intelligence that supports the business unit objectives.

  • Serve as a tiered escalation level for program, customer, and operational issues across the OU.

  • Provide direct leadership to Program/Proposal managers to proactively strengthen the operating unit through the performance management process, including individual and group goal setting, coaching and development. Manage operating unit priorities aligned with the strategy and prioritize resource needs.

  • Partner with functional leadership to deploy qualified resources and improve processes, tools and training to meet customer demands. Evaluate and implement program best practices. Implement programs daily management standards, business systems and tools, and align improvement focus across operating unit.

  • Provides day-to-day people leadership of a diverse team and creates an environment that accelerates development of talent and drives continuous improvement.

  • Actively participates in employee engagement activities including engagement action team leadership.

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Engineering or Business, or related degree, required. Will to consider 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Program Management, Engineering Management and or Operations Management.

  • Requires a proven track record of developing program growth strategy and developing customer relationships, pursuit capture, and shaping requirements.

  • Requires the ability to achieve results, exceptional leadership skills, effective and timely decision making, negotiation skills, business acumen and problem-solving skills.

  • Requires knowledge and experience with implementation and execution of process standards and training focused on programs, business development, and risk management identification and mitigation.

  • Prior experience with people leadership

  • Excellent communication skills - written and presentation development and delivery skills

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at the TS level

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aircraft maintenance -area technical experience is desirable but not required.

  • Strong Program Management Discipline

  • Experience in implementing effective culture change

  • Active TS clearance

Salary Range: $176,200 - $264,400

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
