Northrop Grumman's Propulsion Systems is currently seeking a Mechanical Equipment & Facilities Engineer to join our team at the Kennedy Space Center Facility.
As a KSC Facilities Engineer you will be responsible to ensure the readiness of all facility related assets for production of solid rocket booster components. Facilities equipment includes environmental controls, cranes, lifts, doors, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, and clean rooms. All systems are held to very high standards due to our stringent manned spaceflight requirements and the hazardous commodities we process.
You will work with the Process Engineers and Operations to develop processing plans that optimize resources and meet delivery schedules. You will also interface with customers, management, Safety, Quality, and facility sub-contractors.
Much of the work will be selecting, contracting, and scheduling sub-contractor work to ensure readiness. You will be expected to obtain detailed knowledge of the facility systems through time on the floor, working with operations and sub-contractors.
Maintain a safe work environment for Operations personnel, other Northrop Grumman employees, contractors, visitors, and customers at the Booster Fabrication Facility and Hangar AF complexes.
Ensure high-quality products are manufactured on-schedule and within cost.
Coordinate, integrate, and schedule facility maintenance and upgrades with Flight Hardware Assembly Operations and Production Support Equipment maintenance work.
Work with customers and building owners to ensure budgets are met and work is completed to support operations.
Tie-in daily with Production Operations leadership for cross-communication with other Northrop Grumman Operations sites and escalation of issues
Lead/participate in continuous improvement activities for KSC Operations
Initiate Maintenance Work Orders, Tool Discrepancy Reports, Tooling Change Notices and Facilities Engineering Orders, and track to completion
Strong skills in both short and long term planning methods.
Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to apply Lean Manufacturing principles to improve process flow and standardization of processes.
Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. Presentation skills and ability to clearly communicate initiatives, plans and expectations.
Documented history of leading teams in continuous improvement initiatives in the key areas of Safety, Quality and Efficiency.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and operating procedures.
Must be able to work flexible and changing shift schedules; day or night shifts, including weekends if necessary.
Skilled in creation of documents using Microsoft Office suite products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).Preferred Skills & Experience
Electrical system experience including Arc-Flash requirements.
Facility or tooling related experience.
Experience working with NASA, military, or other government agencies.
Experience working in an aerospace environment.
• BS degree in Engineering, or other related field required.
• Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience.
