Northrop Grumman System Engineer / Ops Support 3 (Alice Springs, AU) in International, United States

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems is seeking a highly qualified mission oriented individual looking to realize the rewards of working in an innovative and discovery-driven environment. Located in Alice Springs, Australia, this is a high visibility position with opportunities for both individual activities and collaborative efforts in support of a complex end-to end system. In addition to working with other talented and experienced engineers, the successful candidate will interface with a spectrum of audiences, ranging from regular top-level status for customers to detailed technical exchanges with factory subject matter experts. Qualified candidates must be able to work independently in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

Principal duties include:

  • Serve as a cross-site specialist for operation and performance of a highly complex system

  • Monitor system and subsystem performance and capabilities on a continuing basis

  • Investigate all indications of anomalous system performance

  • Define steps to restore anomalous system to normal operations

  • Support technical tasks relating to system hardware and its interface

  • Support special system operations of non-routine nature

  • Provide an assessment of and identify error sources in the end-to-end-system including developing processes and tools to minimize system errors

  • Provide feedback to factory engineering on operational priorities and objectives in support of ongoing and future development activities

  • Support implementation of training crew members and site staff as required

  • Ability to perform with a high level of attention to detail and minimal supervision

A 2-year commitment is required. A comprehensive overseas compensation package, including relocation assistance, is provided

SSDSOM

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field (Science/Technology/ Engineering/Math) with 5 years applicable work experience as a systems controller or supporting real-time operations

  • Current SSBI and ability to possess and retain an SCI clearance with SSBI Counter Intelligence Polygraph

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Site O&M experience

  • Experience with subsystems of a highly complex system

  • PERL programming or other scripting languages

  • Experience with orbital dynamics modeling and simulation

  • VMS and UNIX operating systems
