Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Metrology engineer to join the hardware team in Alice Springs, AU toperform Metrology duties and maintenance of ground system support equipment. The successful candidate's duties will be to:
Demonstrate competence in independently developing and executing unique measurements, repairing and calibrating a wide variety of equipment in different disciplines, and detecting and resolving difficult problems
Independently service, repair and calibrate test and measuring equipment which fail to respond to normal diagnostic and corrective practice
Develop diagnostic techniques and adapt equipment to accomplish necessary repairs and measurements
Adapt measuring equipment, standards and techniques to accomplish unique measurements beyond their routine uses
Document procedures, methods and systems for performing measurements
Assist equipment users in devising methods and procedures for obtaining measurements and may be required to operate the equipment/systems for unique or difficult measurements
Contact equipment suppliers to obtain detail technical information on calibration and repair methods and parts information
Train less skilled technicians in methods, concepts, and procedures
Participate in on-the-job training and related formal education
Operate computer software for instrument controllers/computers following established formats and programs
Duties will include but not be limited to:
Research, develop, publish and update controlled calibration procedures.
Assist calibration technicians with measurement processes and selection of adequate calibration standards.
Assess risk and provide analysis concerning calibration extensions.
Support technical compliance to NGAS and Site criteria with attention to in-house calibration laboratory capabilities and external calibration service suppliers.
Coordinate calibration services with external suppliers.
Evaluate out-of-tolerance situations to ensure appropriate steps are taken.
Act as lead equipment recall administrator for the calibration lab.
Assist Quality Compliance with technical aspects of internal Metrology self-audits.
Engineering for RF support
DC/Low frequency support
Evaluation of out-of-tolerance situations to ensure appropriate steps are taken
Perform special projects as required
A two year commitment is required

Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM field (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) with 5 years of related experience inground service, calibration field service, Metrology, hardware or RF engineeringexperience.
Practical working experience with calibration techniques
Experience including working with standard electrical equipment:Power Meters, Power Sensors, Attenuators, Frequency Standard, Calibration kits, Network Analyzer, Signal Generator, Phase Noise, and Spectrum Analyzer
Must have the ability to obtain and retain a current SCI clearance with a SSBI and counter intelligence polygraph
Candidate must pass a physical, psychological and security/polygraph screening
US Armed Forces PMEL or TDME MOS veteran - or ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT or CQE).
Experience with laboratory compliance to ANSI/NCSL-Z540 and/or ISO-17025 industry standards.
Strong emphasis in electromechanical and dimensional measurements; Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T); as well as temperature & pressure parameters.
Understanding and application of measurement uncertainty and Test Uncertainty Rations (TUR's).
Experience with some form of automated calibration procedures (e.g., SureCal, METCAL) and calibration maintenance/asset management system databases (e.g., MET/TEAM, TEAMMS, EMX)
Exposure to wider calibration industry through conferences or memberships such as ASQ, MSC, or NCSLi is favorable.
Demonstrated experience in progressively more complicated calibration and maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of precision measuring equipment and calibration systems
5 years of experience in metrology calibration of a varied range of K (calibration areas (K1, K2, K3-4, K5-6 & K8)
In-depth knowledge of measurement theory application and processes in more than one discipline
