The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Space Systems team on the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract (DSC) in support of the Missile Defense Agency. The GMD element is a critical part of our nation's layered Ballistic Missile Defense System providing the U.S. with the capability to engage and intercept long range ballistic missiles during midcourse flight. This position is responsible for supporting system level GMD flight or ground tests in the system laboratories and in the operational field.

Northrop Grumman is seeking a System Test Engineer 3. In the Huntsville, Alabama location.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supports flight and/or ground test planning, integration, execution, and analysis and reporting for GMD system level testing. Specific test tasks include reviewing test documentation, developing test procedures, support open paper status, test data collection and transfer, and/or performing data analysis

  • Trains to perform as an on-console GMD Fire Control operator in the system laboratories and in the field

  • Execute, monitor, measure, control and report on the test progress, product quality status and test results

  • Supports weekly Integrated Event Team or status meetings to discuss test planning and progress

  • Supports briefings and technical meetings for test status and issues to upper management and MDA government customers on the testing to include any off-nominal behavior observed

  • Provides feedback to the customer or stakeholders

  • Advises on ground or flight test issues, resolutions, and schedules

  • Performs as part of a system test and evaluation team to accomplish test goals.

  • Position requires occasional travel to Colorado Springs, CO; Vandenberg AFB, CA and/or Ft Greeley, AK.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4-6 years of test engineering experience

  • Knowledge of flight and/or ground test processes

  • Must be able to work in a technical team environment characterized by frequently changing tasks, new priorities and quick responsesĀ·

  • Experience creating and documenting test plans/procedures, analyzing results and creating reportsĀ·

UNIX, Linux and Windows operating systems

  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office suite and associated tools in development of spreadsheets, documents and presentations required

  • Basic knowledge of contracts, COTR letters, CAM duties, Basis of Estimates (BOEs)

  • Position requires a current Secret Clearance and U.S. citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidate should have strong communications and presentation skills and be able to perform in a fluid, geographically distributed team environment.

  • Demonstrated understanding of flight and/or ground engineering processes

  • Some experience in UNIX, Linux and Windows operating systems is helpful

  • Current active level security clearance and US Citizenship is required
