Northrop Grumman RF Communications Engineer 5 in Huntsville, Alabama

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks to fill the position of a Principal RF Communications Engineer 5 in the Engineering, Sciences & Technology (ES&T) Central Region Engineering, Huntsville Site. In the Mission Systems sector, you'll join our experts in developing systems and solutions that keep our world safe. The qualified applicant will work in our Huntsville, Alabama office, headquarters for the Missile Defense and Protective Systems (MDPS) division.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Requires experience in radar systems and broad knowledge of Air and Missile Defense.

  • Will act as the principal lead, on integrating a diverse set of radio frequency (RF) and communications equipment, with the resulting system working against sets of air and missile threats.

  • Support integration and test activities associated with radar components and communication systems, in the lab setting and in the field. Support detailed measurement and verification activities using digital and custom test equipment.

  • The candidate should have a good theoretical understanding of radio wave propagation and digital signal processing and should be able to work semi-autonomously on complex analysis tasks.

  • Defines design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with customer specifications.

  • Develops thorough definition of system external interfaces.

  • Defines system implementation approach and operational concept.

  • Ensures requirements are met and evaluates performance with customer.

  • Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.

  • Determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.

  • Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product.

  • Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs.

  • Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

HUNTSALMSTR Basic Qualifications:

  • 14 years with Bachelor of Science in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline; 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD.

  • Active Secret Security Clearance.

  • Successful experience developing detailed designs with supporting implementation, testing and transition plans.
