Job Overview: System Administrator (Storage and Backup)
Job Description: The candidate will perform job duties as a Computer Systems Architect specializing in Storage and Backup Solutions. They will be responsible for installing, configuring, managing and maintaining storage and backup systems to ensure data integrity, availability, and security. Storage and backup solutions are in multiple lab environments operating in support of the IBCS Product Line in Huntsville, Alabama. The candidate will work closely with their Infrastructure teammates to support and enhance our infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and implement best practices.
Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies.
Develops and recommends corrective actions.
Manage and maintain storage and backup systems, including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage solutions
Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability
Perform regular data backups and recovery operations
Implement and maintain disaster recovery plans
Troubleshoot and resolve storage and backup-related issues.
Collaborate with other IT team members to support overall infrastructure
Ensure compliance with data protection and security policies
Document system configurations, procedures, and policies
Regular patching and upgrade cycles
Basic Qualifications:
Principal: Experience: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD; an additional 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Sr Principal: Experience: 8 Years with Bachelor’s in science; 6 Years with Masters; 3 Years with PhD; an additional 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Current DoD Secret Security Clearance
Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (i.e., Security+, etc.)
Proficiency with storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, and cloud storage
Experience with backup software and tools (e.gI c., Veeam, Commvault, NetBackup)
Strong understanding of data protection and disaster recovery principles
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Storage+, VMware Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator)
Additional Operating System Environment Certification i.e., (MCSA, MCSE, Linux+, RHCSA, Net+, CCNA, VMware Certified, etc.)
Broad knowledge of systems administrations to include multiple technologies i.e., (Windows, Linux, Cisco, VMware, NetApp)
Scripting using Bash, PowerCLI, PowerShell
Experience with Dell Powerstore storage solutions
Experience with Veeam Backup and Replication
Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
Knowledge of scripting and automation (e.g., Ansible Automation, Python)
Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)
Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600
Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $190,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
