Northrop Grumman Space Systems is currently seeking a Principal Aeronautical Integration and Test Engineer (Level 3) OR Sr. Principal Aeronautical Integration and Test Engineer (Level 4) to join the Integration & Test team with Launch Vehicles in Huntsville, AL.

Candidate shall possess a strong mechanical engineering background and have a thorough understanding of system-level manufacturing concepts as they apply to integration of complex systems.

Duties will require daily contact with space launch vehicle hardware and solid rocket motors.

Candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and guiding and mentoring less senior staff in the final system-level integration and test of air launched and ground launched target vehicles.

Specific duties may include:

  • Contributing to the development of detailed work instructions, processes and procedures directing the assembly and test of launch vehicle systems.

  • Ensuring consistent application of assembly processes and philosophies across all products.

  • Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and translate requirements into work instructions.

  • Coordinating integration activities and schedules with operations supervisors, program engineers and various customer organizations.

  • Documenting hardware defects and test anomalies, and developing and implementing robust and effective corrective actions.

  • Identifying opportunities for continuous process improvement and participating in implementation.

  • Supporting launch operations, as required.

This job supports a manufacturing floor that requires candidate to be present at facility, therefore is not a work from home job.

This is a dual level req, which can be filled as a Principal Aeronautical Integration and Test Engineer (Level 3) OR Sr Principal Aeronautical Integration and Test Engineer (Level 4)

Basic Qualifications:

For Level 3: Minimum Education / Experience: Bachelor of Science in Engineering +5 years of relevant experience OR Masters Degree + 3 years of experience OR PhD + 0 years of experience-Stem degree required

For Level 4: Minimum Education / Experience: Bachelor of Science in Engineering +9 years of relevant experience OR Masters Degree + 7 years of experience OR PhD + 4 years of experience--Stem degree required

Additional Required Qualifications for both levels:

  • Ability to obtain Interim DoD Security Clearance

  • Experience with testing, system integration, and vehicle launch operations

  • Experience mentoring and/or training engineers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering

  • Active Interim or Secret DoD Security Clearance

  • Experience with the following is preferred:

  • 3D CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred or Solid Works)

  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

  • Ordnance Handling

  • Pneumatics/Hydraulics Experience

  • Hazardous Lifting

Salary Range: $95,100 - $142,700

Salary Range 2: $117,900 - $176,900

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
