Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to join the team. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.
What you will get to do:
The Range Safety Engineer is expected support range safety activities as directed by AFSPCMAN 91-710. The Range Safety Engineer will be involved in developing range safety plans, working with test and developing organizations to analyze and characterize the system, conducting site reviews, and supporting the program to ensure it meets all program objectives in Roy, UT. The Range Safety Engineer is expected to travel 20-30% of the time.
Extensive experience in supporting the following System Safety disciplines is highly desirable:
Range Safety activities as directed by AFSPCMAN 91-710 to mature the weapons systems design and support flight test and flight worthiness activities.
Experience utilizing the MIL-STD-882E methods for conducting hardware / software hazard analyses
Support requirement analyses and tailoring activities for AFSPCMAN 91-170, RCC 319-19 and RCC-324-11.
Ability to navigate requirements in DOORS
Be able to generate AFSPCMAN 91-710 products, plans, and analyses including Ground Operating Procedures (GOPs), Operating Safety Plans (OSPs), Operating & Support Hazard Analyses (O&SHA), and Facility Safety Data Packages (FSDP).
Ability to review technical schematics, drawings, plans and specifications on the system, and test and integration facilities.
Participating in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers (internal/external) and contributing to a broad range of program deliverables.

Additionally, possess excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
Technical experience in network, computer hardware and software, interconnection and interfacing technologies
Collaborate with systems engineers, software engineers and lab users to ensure the lab meets test requirements
Interface with software developers and systems engineers in support of verification

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 14 years of relative experience or Masters in STEM Degree with 12 years relative experience or PHD with 9 years of relative experience.
Experience in range safety engineering with AFSPCMAN 91-710
Active DoD Secret clearance granted/investigated in the last 6 years
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Extensive Experience using MIL-STD-882E for design development of complex military systems
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Active Top Secret clearance with investigation in the last 6 years
Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP)
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Software development or coding experience
Associate Safety Professional (ASP) /Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certificate
Weapon System experience (Minuteman III or similar military or industry experience)
Experience using MIL-STD-882E for hardware and /or software design development
