Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Software Engineer. This position will be located in Huntsville, Alabama and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.
What you will get to do, specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
Interface with requirements and deriving design from requirements in a model based systems engineering environment
Designs, develops and tests displays, controls and functionality
Architects, designs, develops and implements data structures and metrics to support performance monitoring and control functions
Designs, develops and tests simulation software for use in high fidelity simulation based training systems; training systems may include a combination of console and weapon system simulations, virtual reality, and augmented reality
Design and develop artificial intelligence algorithms to tutor, assess and evaluate learner knowledge
Collaborates with Systems and Quality Engineers to ensure software requirements are met
Performs software peer reviews, version control, automated tests, software analysis, continuous integration, and continuous delivery in accordance with DevSecOps processes and best practices
Performs code quality management and corrects defects
Coordinates with HW/SW team to perform retests and regression tests once defects are corrected
This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications:
You will bring these qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience. Master's degree with 7 years of related experience; PhD with 4 years of related experience. Will accept an additional 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a college degree.
Active Secret clearance with re-investigation date of 6 years or less
Experience with OOP concepts and languages such as C/C++, C#, Java, Python.
Experience with DevSecOps, continuous integration and continuous delivery and related tools.
Experience with test automation practices and tools (Junit, Selenium, Karma, and/or Protractor).
Experience with version control software (Bitbucket, Mercurial, Git).
Experience with build automation tools such as Jenkins, GoCD, Travis CI or Circle CI and with deployment automation tools such as chef, puppet or ansible.
Experience working in a fast pace, agile environment with the ability to work on cross-function Scrum team focused on quality and capability delivery
Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming), Scaled Agile Framework - SAFe for Lean Enterprises
These qualifications would be nice to have:
US Citizenship with an Active Top Secret Clearance or higher with re-investigation cate of 6 years or less.
Familiarity with UI/UX (i.e. front-end web development including JavaScript Frameworks (View JS, Angular JS or React), HTML, and CSS.).
Previous practical experience bridging requirements into software design and implementation including active work in DOORs and architecture models through detailed design documentation and into code.
Experience with DevSecOps platforms such as Azure or the Atlassian suite of tools.
Technology and platforms: Linux Red Hat, Git, Maven/Atlassian suite, Docker/Kubernetes, Java Web Development.
Coding and design of algorithmic applications.
Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), to generate engineering artifacts for handoff to software development.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
