Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector (NGDS) is seeking a Business Management Manager 3 for the Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) Operating Unit within the C4 Missile Defense (C4MD) Business Unit of the Combat Systems and Mission Readiness Division. The preferred location for this position is with our team in Huntsville, Alabama , though the selected candidate may also sit in Redondo Beach, California .

The Business Management Manager 3 will report directly to the C4MD Director of Business Management and matrix to the SHORAD Operating Unit Director. The Manager will partner with the Operating Unit Directors and Program Managers to manage all financial aspects to achieve the Operating Units' financial and strategic objectives.


  • Serves as Business manager for all aspects of $250M Operating Unit

  • Coordinates and leads all business management functions including contracts, pricing, proposal development, accounting, program planning & financial control, financial planning, and program scheduling

  • Provides direct management for a team of Business Managers and Program Control/Financial analysts

  • Provides financial business analysis and reporting with the ability to clearly communicate with senior management as it relates to financial program status and analyses

  • Develops business strategy and forecasting through internal or external deliverables such as the Long Range Strategic Plan and the Annual Operating Plan

  • Oversees key line forecasting, work authorization, implementation of Earned Value (EV) reporting, program budgeting, estimate at complete development, and various financial reporting activities

  • Coordinates cost and schedule analyses and preparation of reports to ensure contracts are within negotiated and agreed upon cost and schedule parameters and government cost control guidelines

  • Develops proposals from draft RFP to award, including review of RFP, FAR clauses, coordination with subcontractor flowdowns, basis of estimates, indirect rates, pricing strategies, cash management, negotiation strategy and oversight, and presenting to Senior Management

  • Manages risks with multiple contract types from both an execution and financial perspective

  • Mentors junior Business Managers and develops professional and management talent within the operating units

  • Promotes the professional development of the business management workforce, fostering a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around ethics and integrity, employee engagement, affordability, innovation, value growth, and continuous improvement

  • Maintains the highest level of commitment to quality, compliance and internal controls in adherence to company values and ethics


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Business-related discipline with a minimum of 15 years of business management, finance, and/or program management experience

  • Master's degree in a Business-related discipline with a minimum of 13 years of business management, finance, and/or program management experience

  • The willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the time

  • Must have an active or valid inactive U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • Must be able to work on-site in either Huntsville, Alabama, or Redondo Beach, California

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business related discipline

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop talent

  • Experience developing business strategy and forecasting, through internal or external deliverables such a Long Range Strategic Plan or Annual Operating Plan

  • Experience with program proposals, cost and schedule control, program budgeting, and forecasting for DoD and product-line programs

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the preparation and analysis of program balance sheet and income statements

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office suite

  • Earned Value and financial reporting experience on a variety of contract types

  • Expertise with SAP ERP, Precision

  • Experience in the development of detailed business case analysis and return on investment analysis

  • Familiarity with the risk management process and the development of S-Curve modeling
