The Payload and Ground Systems business sector is seeking a qualified Manufacturing Technician to assist with operations in general manufacturing to solder and assemble precision electro-mechanical products such as gyros and gear train mechanisms. This position is based out of the Goleta, CA site.
Primary Responsibilities :
Performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in assembly, set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies
Perform rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies
Determines and assists in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process
Works with engineers to perform tests.
Handling and managing flight hardware and components.
Notate usage, traceability, pot life, and out time controls on all adhesive materials used
Report data and interface with other employees and departments
Tooling preparation and release application
Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, rulers, and tape measures for fabricating hardware
Utilize Basic Hand tools as well as calibrated tools for assembly.
Reading and understanding manufacturing blue prints and shop planning
Assist in maintaining overall shop appearance and cleanliness
Basic Qualifications for Level 1:
High school diploma or GED
Must be a US Citizen
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds
Ability to be on feet for up to various hours each day
Must be able to read and understand instructions in written English.
Must have Basic computer skills required to navigate and operate work instruction as well as Microsoft Outlook
Must be willing to support our 2nd shift team while taking 4-6 months of required training on first shift upon starting the position. 2nd shift hours: 1:30pm - 11:00pm. 1st shift hours: 6:00am - 3:30pm
Basic Qualifications for Level 2:
High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years additional education and/or manufacturing or mechanical experience
Must be a US Citizen
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds
Ability to be on feet for up to various hours each day
Must be able to read and understand instructions in written English.
Must be willing to support our 2nd shift team while taking 4-6 months of required training on first shift upon starting the position. 2nd shift hours: 1:30pm - 11:00pm. 1st shift hours: 6:00am - 3:30pm
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a manufacturing environment (space/satellite structures, aerospace, Automotive, composite, industrial)
Familiar with soldering to IPC J-STD-001 (or equivalent) and/ or harnessing NASA .4 (or equivalent) is a plus.
Demonstrated Mechanical Ability
Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence
Able to read, write and work to written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawings
Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic
Ability to multitask, prioritize
Experience or familiarity with ISO requirements, standards, and compliance issues
Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel)
Experience with cranes and rigging, forklifts, and similar manufacturing equipment

Salary Range: $39,900 - $66,500
Salary Range 2: $47,600 - $79,300
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
