Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer - (Low Observable (LO) / Radar Cross-Section (RCS) Integration) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be reporting out of Northrop Grumman's South Bay Systems & Specialty Engineering Center of Excellence (CoE) located in Redondo Beach, CA. Work will require the ability to travel 100% of the time to support the program efforts.
The qualified applicant will support a diverse portfolio of research and technology development activities. As part of your assignment, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to determine how survivability technologies can best be integrated into air-based systems within the NGAS portfolio.
Northrop Grumman is one of the industry leaders in Stealth Technology. As such, we are involved in all phases of development, production, and maintenance of Low Observable (LO) platforms. We are currently looking for experienced Low Observable / Survivability Engineers to work on a variety of challenging projects. One area where we are in need of talent is Radar Cross Section (RCS) Analysis.
Activities include generating and maintaining signature files to support threat modeling, performance assessments, and system survivability analyses.
Candidate will communicate across the engineering disciplines and technology areas to integrate capabilities, and communicate technical abilities and analysis with internal stakeholders and external customers.
Candidate should expect a significant amount of travel in this position for extended periods of time.
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of engineering experience OR a Master's Degree and 3 years of experience.
Familiarity with survivable design integration on various platforms (such as material solutions, subsystem and component integration) and its influence on the system level signature.
Experience in developing, executing, analyzing, and interpreting Radar Cross-Section (RCS) tests and relate the data back to cause and effect.
Ability to model Radar Cross-Section (RCS) characteristics to obtain air vehicle prediction.
Ability to travel 100% of the time to support the program efforts.
A current active U.S. Government in-scope DoD Top Secret security clearance is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).
Familiarity in observing unique signature phenomenon due to technologies integrated on a platforms.
Basic knowledge in Low Observables (LO) prediction modeling/analysis open air range testing, chamber testing, and ISAR.
Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office with strong technical writing skills and the ability to communicate and present technical material to various stakeholders.
Fundamental knowledge of air vehicle flight characteristics.
