The Space Operations Scenario Writer utilizes graduate level education, practical experience gained in Government and/or in the private sector, US Army / Joint training in space operations planning and execution to generate and configure storylines and injects that meet the demands of the new Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) environment, understanding of the Joint Targeting Process and Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP) to include basic target development, target package development, and joint space operations planning. This includes planning space operations support to all joint domains and Army warfighting functions at echelon utilizing space capabilities to provide an operational advantage and protection coverage to the warfighter.

Duties:

  • Supports the staff in planning the exercise and during execution managing the adjudication of space effects during exercises.

  • Provide scenario products supporting units in conducting the military decision-making process and/or JOPP.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in space operations.

  • Assist in replicating a realistic Operational Environment (OE) as related to the Space Domain and Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Broad technical knowledge of tactical, operational, and strategic level employment of space capabilities and integration into to the division, corps, and Army Service Component Command (ASCC) levels of command.

  • Broad technical knowledge of Department of Defense, Joint, Intelligence Community, and civil agencies/partners ability to provide integrated and timely capabilities to the warfighter

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the eight codified joint space capabilities: space situational awareness; space control; precision, navigation, and timing; theater missile warning; satellite communications; satellite operations; environmental monitoring; and space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance

  • U.S. citizenship with an active / current DoD TS/SCI.

  • Contractor shall be familiar with all new and current Army and Joint regulations and publications applicable to this position prior to employment.

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of professional leadership experience or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional leadership experience

  • Master's degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional leadership experience

  • Experience working in a dynamic, ever-changing environment while producing quality work to demanding and evolving timescales and requirements.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel software. Additionally, must be proficient in required software operating in an on-line collaborative environment to include the Army

  • Proficiency in the use of National Reconnaissance Office's (NRO) Fusion Analysis & Development Effort (FADE) Multi-Intelligence Spatial Temporal Toolsuite (MIST) software and Bodhi software

  • Be able to travel in the United States and overseas to support simulation-based Army training exercises as needed (up to -50% of the time)

  • Must be able to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 40A operational experience within a division, corps, or ASCC Space Support Element (SSE) staff

  • Operational experience working with United States Army Space and Missile Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (USASMDC/ARSTAT) and United States Space Command (USSPACECOM)

  • Operational experience working in or in coordination with a Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) and Theater Director for Space Forces staffs

  • Joint targeting experience

  • Military Education Level (MEL) Code 4 and Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) level 1

  • Graduate of Army Space Cadre Basic Course (ASCBC) phases 1 and 2, Army Space Operations Office Qualification Course (SOOQC), Space Force National Security Space Institute (NSSI) 200, or Space Force NSSI Space 300 course(s)

Salary Range: $84,100 - $126,100

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
