Northrop Grumman Corporate SOX Financial Specialist in Falls Church, Virginia

Northrop Grumman Corporation is seeking a SOX Analyst. This position will report to the Manager of SOX Compliance and is responsible for the following duties which will include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate controls and audit findings and assist in designing remediation activities

  • Serve as main SOX point of contact for the Company's corporate office, this includes facilitation and liaison with process owners, corporate and sector leadership, as well as internal and external auditors

  • Advise leadership, inclusive of control performers, on control design and risk mitigation strategies

  • Assist in the Company's implementation and integration efforts to achieve an optimized and effective SOX program

  • Perform analysis and/or technical research as it relates to the Company's SOX program and present recommendations to Company leadership

  • Maintain and administrate documentation of SOX processes and quarterly SOX evaluations

  • Support management in the preparation of various presentations made to the members of the Audit Committee and Senior Management

  • Prepare and present SOX training on a regular basis

  • Perform miscellaneous analysis and duties as required

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years total experience in auditing/accounting/finance

  • Strong internal control proficiency (minimum 2 years internal control testing experience)

  • Master's degree or CPA may be traded for 2 years of experience, master's degree and a CPA may be traded to a total of 3 years of experience

  • Public Accounting experience IF directly relevant may count for up to an additional year of experience for each year of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or currently pursuing CPA

  • Recent Big 4 or recognized public accounting firm audit experience (minimum senior associate level achieved)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience with working with remote and virtual personnel

  • Strong executive presence

  • Self-motivated and proactive, while still functioning well in a team environment

  • Strong project management skills

  • Effective use of computer and financial analysis tools, including usage and understanding of spreadsheets and power point

  • Prior experience in aerospace & defense industry preferred
