Northrop Grumman Cyber Systems Engineer in Fairfax, Virginia
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented self-motivated Systems Engineer to join an exciting, complex, mission-focused software development project working with a team of qualified diverse individuals in Fairfax, VA.
The selected candidate will be a part of a software development team supporting mission critical systems, and is expected to apply best software engineering principals and Agile engineering methodologies to research, design, develop, and modify software and systems.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Conducts independent, multidisciplinary research and collaborates with designers and/or developers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of data centric software and systems
Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops applications and systems
Provides leadership as the team's Scrum Master responsible for guiding the scrum team through the Agile development process and ensuring the team understands and follows the process
Helps resolve technical challenges that can occur due to dynamic changes in characteristics, approach, criteria, and requirements
Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions that results in compelling easy to use products in support of mission critical systems
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
This position can be filled as a level 2 or level 3 Cyber Systems Engineer.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Level II Cyber Systems Engineer
Active Top Secret with SCI and Polygraph clearance
Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant work experience. (An additional 4 years of relevant work experience may substitute for a degree.)
Minimum of 2 years of application system engineering experience (a Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering will be considered in lieu of experience)
Experience engineering, testing, and refining computer/application software to produce the required product
Ability to create and maintain documentation
Good communication skills
Ability to formulate and articulate an approach to solve problems
Ability to work independently; is a self-starter
Previous experience with an Agile Scrum team in a fast-paced environment
Level III Cyber Systems Engineer

Previous experience with an Agile Scrum team in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with the engineering, development and maintenance of data repositories, data management applications and systems, or data ingestion applications and systems
Cloud experience and/or certifications
Familiarity with Apache Nifi
Familiarity with practices such as test-driven development (TDD), SecDevOps and Agile Software
Experience enhancing software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency
Experience developing and maintaining applications while addressing accessibility concerns
