Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
Observes work processes for compliance with regulatory and Company requirements and standards. Conducts data collection & review, file management and sample collection. Performs process compliance checks & verifications. Evaluates collected data and converts it into a presentable format. Prepares external communication to regulators & shareholders. Supports the preparation and delivery of internal training and participates in regulatory negotiations & interactions. May train others to perform data collection, compliance audits and incident investigations. Plans and responds to safety related emergency situations and events.
Observes, records, analyzes and affects change of EH&S compliance-related activities as necessary. Interacts with federal, state and local regulators to resolve compliance issues.
Review Detailed and Standard Operating procedures and approve or revise for safety compliance.
Utilizes Root Cause and Problem Solving tools. Provides creative and practical technical solutions to a moderate range of challenging problems.
Creates and may conduct the facility's EH&S training program.
Collects, evaluates and interprets relevant EH&S related data and metrics. Prepares environmental, health and safety work procedure documentation and conducts training courses.
Provides input for external communications to customers, regulators & shareholders. Prepares communications to internal management.
Observes and may provide data for negotiations and related activities with EH&S regulatory personnel.
Lead internal actions and activities related to event investigations.
Education and Experience
Requires BS in Environmental Science/Engineering, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or equivalent technical area (Biology, Chemistry, Geology, etc.)
4 years EHS/Safety experience, or Master’s Degree in relevant technical area & 2 years EHS/Safety experience.
Demonstrates thorough understanding and broad application of technical standards, principles, theories, and techniques in environmental and/or safety engineering.
Fluent in use of Microsoft applications and ability to quickly learn new computer programs/applications.
Utilizes technical writing skills.
Able to read and understand operational procedures, government regulations, and safety data sheets.
Can manage data within the incident reporting tool. Interpersonal skills are required (communication, conflict resolution, etc).
Interprets federal and state laws, regulations, and orders as they apply to environmental practices, and implements policies and procedures to ensure that these practices are in compliance with the appropriate statutes and regulations, and that regulatory reporting requirements are met.
