Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Stain Gage Engineering Technician - Ill to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be at Northrop Grumman's South Bay Center of Excellence (CoE) located in El Segundo, CA.
The Strain Gage Engineering Technician - III will provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks in support of Strain Gage and other testing within a controlled lab environment. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
The selected candidate will perform strain gage prep and installation work. Additional responsibilities may include supporting test activities such as static, fatigue, and proof tests by monitoring and operating tests. Assignments will vary based on strain gage workload in the lab.
Installs strain gages onto flight hardware.
Prepares surfaces, curing adhesives, Wheatstone bridge completion.
Uses industry tools such as BLH-625, 1550A, P3, star references, and soldering iron.
Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, and layout drawings.
Performs data system operation duties when needed to support test schedule.
Uses test equipment including oscilloscope, VOM, DVM, signal generators and similar test apparatus.
Provides technical support and assembly labor on a variety of technical tasks.
May operate data acquisition systems on various tests analysis.
Work closely with other Engineers and Technicians within a lab environment.
The Engineering Technician - III should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels of the organization.
High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of relevant work experience
Knowledge of strain gage concepts, measuring and principals
Experience in preparing surfaces and installing strain gages
Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time within the U.S.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government issued DoD Secret security clearance.
Electronics training or technical trade school or military technical school
Strain gage testing and measuring experience
Cable routing experience
Knowledge of electrical principles, theories, and concepts
Experience with data acquisition systems or load control systems
Detailed planning, coordination, and documentation skills
Knowledge of Pacific Instrument Systems, MOOG systems, and DIC systems
A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret clearance with current or previous Special Program Access.
