Enterprise Services (ES) Property Accounting is looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Sr Principal Accountant (Level 04) knowledgeable in Financial & Property/Fixed Asset Accounting functions and activities. The position reports directly to the Manager of Enterprise Property and Material Accounting in the Redondo Beach, CA office.

This position is a hybrid role and can be supported from Redondo Beach, CA, Irving, TX, or Bloomington, MN.

Roles and responsibilities of the Senior Principal Accountant will include (but not be limited to) the following:

  • Manage day-to-day Property Accounting activities, including reviewing journal entries, monthly/ quarterly reports, tax packages, account reconciliations and supporting documentation.

  • Coordinate and review the work of Property Accounting team of 8, ensuring team deadlines for month-end close deliverables are met and in accordance with operating procedures/controls.

  • Set the direction of the team on a regular cadence in partnership with department manager. Drives execution by organizing and delegating teamwork, setting goals, and holding the team accountable and monitors and escalates issues with the team pace.

  • Act as the primary point of contact within the team, leading by example according to the Northrop Grumman values and leadership behaviors.

  • Audit support with the government DCMA/DCAA, and Internal Audit functions.

  • Research Fixed Asset accounting rules for special situations.

  • Develop good working relationship with internal customers to understand their PP&E management practices.

  • Prepare annual Property Tax and Audit schedules.

  • Review Year-end Accounting Conventions for Fixed Assets.

  • Identify and drive continuous process improvements and automation initiatives.

  • Analyze and develop plans to improve workflow for maximum efficiency.

  • Adherence to all internal processes, policies, and applicable GAAP/CAS/FAS standards.

  • Special projects (as assigned).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of relevant experience.

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including expertise in Microsoft Excel using advanced formulas, pivots, charts, and conditional formatting.

  • Extensive utilization and understanding of ERP systems, especially SAP.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting

  • An active CPA license

  • Familiarity with GAAP, FAR, CAS.

  • Defense or aerospace industry experience

  • Experience with SAP S4 HANA and Asset Management (AM) module.

  • Experience leading diverse and geographically dispersed team.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
