Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team of qualified diverse individuals. In Vehicle Engineering, we develop manned and unmanned aircraft platforms for all the programs in the Aeronautics Systems Sector.
This position will be located at Edwards AFB in Southern California and will support the 3/10 1st shift. (Friday - Sunday; 10 hour days. This is a full time position
This position will require a candidate with specific structural engineering specialties which may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress, fatigue, and thermal analysis. Day-to-day activities will be to analyze, research, and develop structural engineering analysis packages involving metals, non-metallic, or composite structural materials for product design or operation of product. This might include structures, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronics, power plant, armament, heating and ventilating, equipment, and maintenance designs. You will analyze damage tolerance, durability, design allowables, and structural modeling.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering and 14 years of engineering and/or structural analysis experience; OR a Master's Degree in the above listed degree areas with 12 years of engineering and/or structural analysis experience; OR a PhD in the above listed degree areas with 9 years of engineering and/or structural analysis experience.
Experience in Structural Analysis Methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, as well as the development and manipulation of large Finite Element Models.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. This clearance must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment. This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance highly preferred.
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
Aerospace structural analysis experience using NASTRAN, PATRAN, or FEMAP.
Experience in Bonded Composite Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures
Experience with analysis of composite and/or metallic structure and repair methods
Experience in structural testing (building block or full-scale test)
Experience as a Lead Engineer managing a small group of analysts
Analysis experience in a MRB role
Experience working on Special Access Programs
Experience working on military aircraft
Experience with durability and damage tolerance (DaDT) of aircraft structures
Salary Range: $161,000 - $241,400
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
