The Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Division is a strategic partner specializing in commercial and classified partnerships with the design, delivery, operation and sustainment of satellites and human spacecraft. We support science and space exploration through our various partnerships, including NASA's Artemis program with the goal to return humans to the Moon in 2024 and the TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) program that has discovered more than twenty confirmed plants. Recognized as an industry leader, we also develop highly specialized space and satellite components.

We are seeking a motivated, creative, and energetic Electrical Power Subsystems Engineer to join our team in Dulles, VA .

Roles and Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for the technical understanding of the spacecraft bus and electrical power subsystem as a whole

  • Be responsible for detailed technical knowledge of various electrical power equipment

  • Manage the budget and schedule on assigned project

  • Provide active oversight of assigned technical team and hardware development effort

  • Apply core EE principals to adapt/improve heritage equipment and features

  • Prepare proposal costing and technical assessments

  • Prepare and present technical packages for design reviews

  • Act as a liaison with program management and various customers

Qualifications:

This position can be filled at either the Principal or Sr. Principal Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Engineer

  • Bachelors Degree in a STEM Discipline (preferably Electrical Engineering) and 5 yrs of experience; OR a Master's Degree with 3 yrs of experience; OR a PhD

  • Understanding of the generation, storage, conditioning/regulation, and distribution of electrical power

  • Must have U.S. Citizenship

Sr. Principal Engineer

  • Bachelors Degree in a STEM Discipline (preferably Electrical Engineering) and 9 yrs of experience; OR a Master's Degree with 7 yrs of experience; OR a PhD with 4 yrs of experience

  • Understanding of the generation, storage, conditioning/regulation, and distribution of electrical power

  • Must have U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of analog electronics and various power converter topologies

  • Ability to work through detailed analyses with minimal oversight

  • Experience in managing subcontractors and working with government and private sector customers

  • Design experience - while this is not a circuit design position, knowledge of the process is highly desirable
