NSS programs include technical roles at the mission, segment, subsystem and component levels. They span the entire program life cycle from early concept studies, design development, system integration/test, launch and early operations, mission operations/sustainment and system disposal. Programs range from small feasibility studies to medium-sized on orbit technology demonstrations and large-scale national system programs.
The primary NGC work location is in Dulles, VA. Occasional travel to other CONUS customer sites and test areas may be required. The Systems Engineer in this position will be responsible for the design and integration of complex electronic systems into space vehicles and ground systems. Responsibilities include system design, component assembly & testing, system trouble-shooting, problem reporting and root cause analysis & resolution. The ideal candidate will also gather customer feedback and participate in design reviews and system documentation as necessary in support of new system designs. The candidate must work well with customers, contractors, and a multi-disciplined design team to ensure mission success.
Qualified candidates will be familiar with specifying and procuring avionics components and functional lab testing. Candidate will be familiar with DC power systems and electrical systems concepts including EMI / EMC, communication protocols, failure analysis, and safe to mate testing.
Bachelor's Degree in a technical field & 9 years applicable experience or Master's Degree & 7 years applicable experience.
Must have U.S. Citizenship with current or active Top Secret/SCI level clearance
Experience with system analysis, design, and development.
Experience in one or more of the following system development tasks: trade studies, mass and power budgeting, systems architecting, requirements derivation and verification
Experience with electrical hardware testing
Familiarity with development of electrical hardware
