Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Cost Control Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in our Dulles VA office.

The Cost Control Analyst will interact with various operating unit, business area, and division staff to support project planning and control and variance analysis and meet reporting requirements. In addition, the Analyst will interface with program managers, control account managers (CAMs), accounting, contracts, subcontracts, and procurement organizations, as well as external customers on a daily basis to address operational and maintenance issues with program. Communicating with managers, functional management, control account managers (CAMs) and business managers to provide financial support and analysis.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing guidance on policies and procedures.

  • Setting up cost control system, monitor and control costs and schedules on contracts requiring validated cost schedule control system.

  • Performing analyses and prepare reports in order to ensure that contracts are within negotiated and agreed-upon parameters and government cost control guidelines.

  • Preparing budgets and schedules for contract work and perform and/or assist in financial analyses such as funding profiles, sales outlook, resource planning and variance analysis.

  • Ensuring adequate funding availability by maintaining accurate records of expenditures, directing preparation of expenditure projections, and submitting timely requests for additional funding to the government.

  • Incorporating contractual changes into control systems by staying aware of outstanding work against each contract in order to maintain realistic contract cost and schedule baselines.

  • Performing monthly and quarterly Estimates at Complete (EACs).

  • Supporting cash flow initiatives, reviewing, tracking and reporting invoices throughout the program cycle.

  • Performing program closeout responsibilities.

  • Setting up, prepare and follow up with all required financial reports.

  • Effectively communicating with leadership and customers regarding financial status, metrics and deliverables.

  • Participating in knowledge transfer and best practices sharing with peers.

  • Assisting in preparing for internal and external audits.

  • Establishing a budget/EAC, analyze capital expenditures and prepare reports for programs.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related professional experience - OR - a Master's degree with 6+ years of related professional experience. An additional four years’ experience accepted in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience in cost management, finance management, or pricing & estimating.

  • Experience successfully managing and producing data with strict deadlines.

  • Experience with financial analysis and/or reporting.

  • Earned Value Management System (EVMS) Knowledge and experience is a plus.

  • Strong PC skills and proficient knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Excel.

  • Strong analytical ability.

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a current, active Top Secret/SCI Clearance. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

Salary Range: $109,900 - $164,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
