We are seeking Principal or Senior Principal Engineer software candidates with a background in Command and Control (C2 or C&C) and/or Telemetry, Tracking, and Commanding (TT&C) for our Tactical Space Systems division supporting mission critical customers and spacecraft missions. The location for this role is in Dulles, VA but we may have the ability to offer telecommuting with some stipulations.

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Understand the customer and mission needs and translate those into user stories and features

  • Develop satellite command and control software and services using service oriented architectures, message bus based data exchange that include first-of-a-kind capabilities

  • Collaborate with product owners, users, and other software developers

  • Perform software peer reviews, version control, automated tests, continuous integration, and continuous delivery in accordance with DevSecOps processes and best practices

The successful candidate is:

  • Knowledgeable about Spacecraft Command and Control concepts including: satellite telemetry streams, manual and automated or script-based commanding, interfaces of a variety of front-end processing equipment, end-to-end satellite control including command and telemetry database and flight table management

  • Strong in object-oriented fundamentals, but for this position, domain-area expertise will be prioritized over other experiences

  • Expected to be a self-starter capable of making decision with overall project budget and schedule in mind.

Qualifications:

This position may be filled at the Principal or Senior Principal level, depending on years of experience as follows:

Principal Level Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years with Bachelors in Software Engineering or closely related discipline (or 3 Years with Masters in Software Engineering or closely related discipline and 1 Year with PhD in Software Engineering or closely related discipline)

Senior Principal Level Qualifications:

  • 9+ Years with Bachelors in Software Engineering or closely related discipline (or 5 Years with Masters in Software Engineering or closely related discipline and 3 Years with PhD in Software Engineering or closely related discipline)

Remaining Qualifications for both levels:

  • Active Top Secret Clearance following hire

  • Experience working in a fast paced, Agile environment with the ability on teams focused on quality and capability delivery

  • Proficiency in C++ Experience in producing software architecture documentation

  • Experience with design, building, and deployment of software product

  • Demonstrated experience in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring

  • Significant experience designing and developing satellite Command and Control applications for spacecraft missions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with multithreaded software

  • Experience in one or more Satellite Control or Operations Center

  • Experience participating in Agile programs and/or familiarity with Agile methodologies

  • Scaled Agile Framework

  • Possesses a certification in Agile

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, continuous integration, and continuous delivery

  • Familiarity with cloud deployment and microservice architectures

  • Experience with Linux operating system and associated development tools

  • Experience with Golang, C

  • TS/SCI is preferred
