Successful candidates for this position will work in a lead technical role for a space program in Dulles VA, in the NSS business area within the Space Systems Sector. This Systems Engineering role is responsible for leading the Systems Engineering technical team, which includes the following duties: systems analysis and trades, coordinating Vehicle Systems engineering activities, engineering baseline management, interface management, requirements/V&V management, subcontractor technical oversight, CAM/EVMS duties, preparing/presenting SE material at all major reviews and PMR's and interfacing with the customer and SETA's on all space segment technical issues.
The responsibilities include both individual-contributor and leadership roles, within a multi-disciplined engineering team. Successful candidate will also be called upon to support other activities, including architecture studies, mission support, and traditional Systems Engineering functions. In this lead role, the Lead Systems Engineer is expected to be self-directed using previous experience to lead design, analysis and execution efforts. Candidates must be able to recognize and mitigate technical issues and risks while operating within budget and on schedule.
The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation experience and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team.
Bachelor's Degree & 5 years systems engineering experience
Electronics or software development experience
Experience with Integration and Test
- Must have U.S. Citizenship with active or current Top Secret level clearance.
This position can also be filled a level higher with a Bachelor's Degree and 9 years systmes engineering experience.
Experience with a space development program
Experience presenting to customers
Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams
