Adaptive Optics Associates - Xinetics (AOA Xinetics), a wholly-owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) Business Venture, is currently seeking a PCB Layout Designer 3 to support AOX business activities in Devens MA.
AOA Xinetics designs, develops, and manufactures precision, advanced optical products and systems such as deformable mirrors, optical systems, adaptive optics control systems and silicon carbide optical structures for the U.S. Government, commercial customers, and U.S. defense prime and second-tier contractors. Markets for these technologies include civilian astronomy and semiconductor capital equipment as well as defense ISR and Directed Energy. Several potential direct and adjacent application areas also exist. The Company has substantial growth opportunities in support of many U.S. Government and NGSP business initiatives.
AOX delivers industrial photonics systems and development services for a variety of customers and applications. AOX excels in a range of applications from adaptive optical systems, deformable mirrors, wavefront sensors, precision actuators, to photonic systems that acquire and process data in real time for a variety of high availability applications. AOX's capabilities include lightweight passive and active hybrid CERAFORM silicon carbide optics and precision structures as well as large and small precision opto-mechanical systems supporting electronics and sophisticated controls software.
Reporting to theSpecial Programs Engineering Manager, the PCB Layout Designer 3 will create multilayer high-density printed circuit board designs per electrical and mechanical engineering input. You will be part of a multidiscipline team of engineers and designers developing electronics for R&D projects, engineering prototypes, and production ready designs. Our ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical expertise and collaborative people skills with the proven ability to work within a technically dynamic, high-growth, fast-paced and strategically important business unit for NG Strategic Space Systems.
Perform detailed layout design and documentation of printed circuit boards
Establish all electrical functionality (current carrying, isolation requirements, stack-up, etc.)
Prepare all necessary artwork /electronic data required for complete board fabrication
Produce 2D CAD drawings for board fabrication and assembly
Produce 3D models of boards for mechanical integration
Work from schematics, net lists, part lists, and basic description of the board function, constraints, configuration, and arrangement as defined by engineering
Create electronic library symbols, geometry, footprints etc. per IPC standards
Maintain library symbols and footprints
Work under minimal supervision
Interface with EE and ME staff for design development and solving board level related issues
High School Diploma or equivalent
7+ years of experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) high speed digital, analog, RF and switch mode power supply design layout and impedance control; PCB Fabrication and Assembly
Mentor Graphics Software or similar (PADS PCB Layout, PADS Professional, Auto-routing Software)
Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
Strong technical verbal/written communications skills with regards to designs, interfaces and status
SolidWorks and MS Office skills
U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for employment
Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance
2 year technical degree
High Density Interconnector (HDI) design experience
Flex circuit design experience
Certified in PCB Fabrication IPC-6011/6012D, PCB Assembly J-STD-001F and IPC-A-610F (Class 2&3)
Active TS/SCI Clearance
Good eye/hand coordination
Ability to sit for extended periods of time
Light physical effort required
