AOA Xinetics (AOX), a wholly owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division Business Unit, is a leading supplier of complex electro-optic and photonic systems and subsystems that control and manipulate light waves for a variety of applications. We are seeking an Optical Technician 2 to support our production operations in Devens, MA.

Overview

Reporting to the Manufacturing Operations Manager, the Optical Technician 2 will be responsible for the execution and support of all optical activities as they relate to the production of optical-mechanical assemblies; including tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on opto-mechanical, electro-optical and electronic and/or mechanical assemblies. Working from diagrams and drawings, making initial layouts, and useshand and/or power tools. Performs continuity checks on work in process and completed assemblies. May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications provided by a cognizant engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Use a variety of metrology and inspection tools to test and inspect optical and mechanical components for accuracy and quality

  • May build or modify equipment used to test precision optics

  • Set up and test complete units and subassemblies under operational conditions

  • Work in accordance with established safety rules and good housekeeping practices

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • 3 - 5 years of opto-mechanical and optical assembly experience

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blue prints

  • Ability to follow work instructions

  • Use of basic hand tools

  • Ability to work independently, strong attention to detail, and good written/verbal communication skills

  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills

  • U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of optical and electrical test equipment

Salary Range: $47,600 - $79,300

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
