Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Propulsions Division is currently looking for a Design Engineering Manager S03 to manage the Digital Design & Integration team at our Promontory, UT and Bacchus, UT locations.
Description & Responsibilities:
The Engineering Manager for Digital Design & Integration (DD&I) reports directly to the Director of Digital Thread Engineering and is responsible for overall execution of model-based designs and all associated CAD elements as well as strategy for model-based definition as a key element of the digital thread. The Engineering Manager is a member of the digital strategy team and partnered with the Digital Strategy and PLM CoE organizations to further standards of excellence as part of the BU, Division, Sector, and enterprise digital strategies.
The successful candidate must be skilled at managing direct reports, have a deep working knowledge of engineering design and release processes and tools, The candidate must also be skilled at conflict resolution and negotiation, and work closely with the design, analysis, CM, and project engineering organizations to provide quality products and services to our customers. The candidate must also be a skilled strategist in model-based design and its role in the long-term vision of digital thread.
Job Duties
Provide leadership, direction, and management to a manager and team of design engineering SMEs working in a primarily model-based (CAD) environment with high impact to the business
Provide vision, leadership and direction to the DD&I organization in the execution of tactical objectives and strategic initiatives
Drive technical excellence by owning and upholding technical standards, identifying risks, and cultivating the development of new methods, tools, and capabilities
Work with manager(s) and leads and to assure that the organization is properly staffed, trained, and certified to meet current and future program demands, including retention of outside vendor services when required
Work closely with program management, engineering, and manufacturing organizations to forge alliances and provide excellent customer support as a shared and collaborative services organization
Partner with the PLM & Digital Strategy Team and the Digital Thread organization leadership in the creation and execution of strategic roadmaps for digital transformation objectives at the business unit, division, sector, and enterprise levels
Integrate with Program Offices and Project/Systems Engineers to ensure program commitments are understood and support the planning and execution of on-time delivery of engineering products
Formulate personnel development plans, track progress, and evaluate performance to ensure challenge and growth
Support new business opportunities (proposals, scope definition, BOEs, etc.)
Education Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Engineering or a related field, MS preferred.
Experience Requirements
9 years experience in engineering or engineering-related field with BS degree,
7 years experience in engineering or engineering-related field with MS degree
2 years experience in a management or technical leadership role
Skills & Qualifications
Technical expertise in Siemens products including Teamcenter Unified Architecture and Siemens NX with PMI
Deep understanding of how PMI is authored in NX and using JT derivative files
Strong knowledge of businesses products and processes and how they work together to ensure interfaces with other business processes are efficient
Strong interpersonal savvy, skilled in collaboration and conflict management
Demonstrated ability to work within and across disciplines to ensure cohesion in the selection, development and deployment of engineering tools and processes
Understanding of industry trends in model-based products and technologies
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Detail oriented yet able to understand the big picture
Effective communicator skilled at collaborating with others to get work done and manage conflicting priorities
Ability to execute customer demands and resolve customer concerns in the short-term while effectively creating and executing to a future business vision
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in administration or development of Siemens Teamcenter
Experience with administration of Siemens NX with PMI
Experience in engineering, configuration management, and/or systems engineering
CMII, IpX or other relevant industry certification
Proficiency with NX checkmate code
Understand NG manufacturing and tooling processes and how PMI is consumed within them

Salary Range: $138,400 - $207,600
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
