Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking Staff Release Engineering Lead - 12644 . This position will be located in Colorado Springs, Colorado and will support the Sentinel program.

The selected candidate will lead the Release Engineering team supporting all Command & Launch software teams. The Release Engineering team will drive the vision, technologies, tools, and support for Automated Release Management of all C&L software products.

Your responsibilities will also include:

• Ownership of the C&L C2 SW builds, to ensure a consistent approach to artifact generation and strong configuration management of all SW products.

• Oversee SW product versioning and configuration management to align with program processes.

• Own the release process and work with SW teams to identify bottleneck areas for improvement. Proactively engage with product teams and SW leads in the SW release process, removing obstacles and establishing best practices.

• Work alongside program and technical leadership to organize technical roadmaps into achievable work.

• Continuously evaluate and improve C&L CI/CD pipelines and processes, enabling consistent and repeatable builds, deployment to test/staging environments, automated test suites, and all relevant quality/compliance checks.

• Support C&L C2 SW teams in reliably deploying specific software configurations into lab environments.

The successful candidate will lead the design, development, and documentation of the software release process for all C&L Software teams. As team lead, the successful candidate will serve in a dual-hatted role as team lead and senior technical contributor. The successful candidate should have strong people leadership skills/experience and will serve as a mentor/coach to less experienced team members, while also defining and communicating team tasking and priorities. As a senior engineering contributor, a deep understanding of source code management, compilers, build configuration languages, automated build tools, package managers, and installers is required. The successful candidate will have broad knowledge across multiple software domains including development, configuration management, test, integration, system administration, and stakeholder support.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications:

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • 14 Years with bachelor's in science; 12 Years with Masters; 09 Years with PhD or 04 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.

  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and/or other cloud orchestration technologies.

  • Experience developing microservice software within container run time environments.

  • Experience/familiarity with building and integrating C++ applications.

  • Experience with software configuration management processes and best practices.

  • Experience with CI/CD best practices: automated builds and tests; quality gates.

  • Experience with continuous integration (CI) tools such as Nexus and Gitlab.

  • Experience using and/or setting up a DevSecOps pipeline.

  • Experience integrating software onto representative hardware.

  • Programming and scripting experience in a UNIX environment (e.g., C++, Python, Bash, Shell Scripts).

  • Experience working in a large-scale agile (e.g., SAFe) team environment.

  • Demonstrated ability leading technical software team(s).

Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)

  • Active Top Secret security clearance.

  • Experience leading the transition from manual software release to an automated paradigm.

  • Experience releasing and integrating Nuclear Safety Critical Software into development/testing environments.

  • Engineering leadership experience, including team tasking and prioritization.

  • Experience with Agile development: methodology, process, and tools.

  • Experience with Scrum and Kanban.

  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).

  • Experience with software development on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

  • Experience with virtual machine technology, such as VMWare.

  • Solid understanding of SW Assurance best practices.

Salary Range: $150,000 - $225,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
