Northrop Grumman Sr. Principal Hardware Engineer in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Hardware Engineering Lead with experience in formal engineering life-cycle processes to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Colorado Springs, Colorado. Qualified individuals must be flexible, self-motivated, hardworking and capable of working on a program, as it moves through the system lifecycle phases of development, testing and deployment, while also performing sustainment and modification associated tasks on the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS), PAVE Passive Array Warning System (PAWS) (BPP). The Hardware Engineering Leads primary responsibility will be to work closely with project management, and cross-functional IPT's to plan, execute, and assign hardware engineering personnel to specific project efforts. Additionally the Hardware Engineering lead will participate and support re-integration changes to the weapons system's technical baseline as part of ongoing sustainment and modification activities.

The candidate must be a team player, well organized, able to work comfortably and effectively with company team members as well as program stakeholders and DoD contractor senior personnel. The candidate will be required to support and lead technical interchange meetings, and provide on-site technical and event support.

Additional responsibilities for the Hardware Engineering Lead will include the following:

• Plan, execute, and assign hardware engineering personnel to obsolescence resolution activities

• Plan, execute, and assign hardware engineering personnel to depot level maintenance actions

• Plan, execute, and assign hardware engineering personnel to periodic and corrective actions on assigned radars systems IAW with Air Force Technical Order and Depot Level procedures

• Plan, execute, and assign to hardware engineering personnel to preventative maintenance actions on assigned radars IAW with Air Force Technical Order and Depot Level procedures

• Lead and restore critical radar functionality

• Requirements development, including decomposition, allocation, and provide recommended verification/validation methods

• Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses

• Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into systems solutions that acknowledge technical constraints

• Perform functional analysis, detailed studies, interface definition to translate system requirements into subsystem specifications.

• Develop associated product lists, hardware drawings, architectural views, models, and system documentation; documentation development plan

• Procure system equipment, warranties, spares, and software licenses for both mission and non-mission development and test environments

• Utilizing a variety of tools to support engineering activities, routine maintenance corrective actions, hardware-related emergency/urgent maintenance and respond to anomalies

• Validate serviceability of hardware at contractor and government facilities.

• Conduct antenna array inspection and repair

• Develop procedures, maintain failure data, drawings, and equipment historical records to military standards

• Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot/repair hardware components

• Knowledge and demonstrated ability with test equipment to include spectrum analyzers, Network analyzers, RF power meters, signal generators, multimeters and oscilloscopes

• Provide hardware maintenance to ensure reliable, redundant paths of data collection and communications to allow for continued processing of the operational mission

• Provide real-time 24/7 hardware maintenance support for operational and supplementary computer and communication equipment at operational sites

• Supporting the integration, installation, test and documentation of new and/or modified capabilities into the system

• Providing training to operations and maintenance personnel for new installations, special test events and anomaly recoveries

• Providing leadership and mentoring in addition to being an individual performer

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 9 years of Experience with Bachelors of Science in STEM Field; 7 years with a M.S.; 4 years with a PhD.

  • Excellent communications skills

  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office tools

  • Ability to lead a team of greater than 10 individuals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ground based Radar or Sea Based Radar engineering experience

  • Experience implementing agile development and processes

  • JIRA tool set experience

  • Confluence tool set experience

  • Planning and EVMS experience

  • Extensive experience with Radars and other SIGINT Systems

  • Experience with requirements tracking systems

  • Model Based engineering experience

  • Experience with determining required hardware based on performance and other requirements

  • Experience with export licenses prior to exporting hardware

  • Experience purchasing hardware and tracking licenses

  • Experience documenting hardware and network configurations

  • Experience with supporting and generating proposals

Salary Range: $103,680 - $155,520
