Northrop Grumman Quality Engineer/Principal Engineer Quality in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Space ISR SystemsDivision. We are looking for a high-caliber individual with a background in program execution, software, systems engineering, mission/quality assurance and/or process improvement to join the Quality and Mission Excellence organization.

The candidate selected will monitor and improve quality/mission assurance system elements that assure program execution and customer goal satisfaction. The Quality Engineer (QE) will support a program in the Colorado Springs area.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Quality Engineer will ensure compliance with all quality/mission assurance related contractual requirements, and sector/division policies and procedures, while contributing to the Program's effective process implementation and execution.

Tasks may include:

  • Independently assessing program and supplier risks, cost, and schedule; conducting process and product audits; and performing supplier assurance.

  • Collaborating with engineering, Logistics, Global Supply Chain and Safety functions to ensure quality standards are in place.

  • Developing, modifying, applying and maintaining quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.

  • Devising and implementing methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

  • Evaluating and analyzing inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis.

  • Auditing processes, procedures and quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensuring that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

  • Conducting incoming material, production control, product evaluation, inventory control and/or research as they apply to product or process quality.

  • Assuring the quality of software and hardware engineering and test verification activities, and participating in software development and test peer reviews.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of software and/or hardware mission assurance principles, the discipline to enforce them, and will possess strong communication skills and the ability to work closely and effectively with program personnel.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

This requisition may be filled at either a Quality Engineer level or a Principal Quality Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications:

The Basic Qualifications for a Quality Engineer are:

  • Bachelors of Science degree inarelated STEM fieldand 2+ years of related experience in supporting quality/mission assurance systems, systems engineering, systems integration, software engineering, software development, software test processes, or process engineering.

  • Good understanding of software and hardware sustainment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Being organized and a self-motivator.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance

The Basic Qualifications for a Principal Quality Engineer are:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a related STEMfield and 5+ years of related experience in supporting mission/quality assurance, systems engineering, systems integration, software engineering, software development, software test processes, or process engineering.

  • Good understanding of software and hardware sustainment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Being organized and a self-motivator.

  • ActiveDOD Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Quality Assurance, Mission Assurance or Process experience in a hardware or software sustainment environment

  • Experience using NGPro

  • Experience using of CPAS

  • Experience using QAF

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification

  • Good understanding of the specific AS9100 Standards impacting program performance.

  • Good understanding of the specific NGMS Policies and Procedures impacting program performance.
