Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking applicants for a position on the Sustainment and Modernization of Radar Sensors (SMORS) program as a Principal Systems Engineer, focused on the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) Precision Acquisition Vehicle Entry (PAVE) Phased Array Warning System (PAWS) (BPP) and specifically Agile development activities. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO, and some travel may be required.
What you'll get to do:
Perform System Architecture Design, Development, and Delivery
Evaluate system functional and performance characteristics and requirements to define product and services needs
Provide technical guidance a team performing day-to-day delivery order tasks, such as and not limited to hardware, software, cybersecurity, test and sustainability functions
Lead and/or conduct trade studies to support the selection of preferred design solutions, commercial hardware or software components, and preferred course of action alternatives
Lead system design reviews creating and/or updating specifications, designs and technical baseline documentation
Support system requirements reviews and creating and/or updating requirement specifications and technical baseline documentation
Generate, review, and update technical baseline artifacts and collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure specifications meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive, consistent and complete
Review technical baseline documentation to ensure the design meets system needs and is accurate, comprehensive, consistent and complete
Identify, coordinate and generate risk and opportunity conditions. Participate in risk analysis and mitigation formation
Collaborate with system modelers who use MBSE tools and techniques to define system interfaces, requirements and behaviors
Provide training and mentoring on development processes and procedures
Support the development of system test and/or integration plans, procedures and scenarios used in the conduct of integration and testing activities

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited college with 5 years of systems engineering experience; or 3 years' experience with a Master's degree; or 0 years with PhD.
Current DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance or higher
Familiarity or experience with Agile software development methodologies, i.e. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe
Experience in using a requirements management tool, such as DOORS
Experience utilizing MS Office Suite tools (i.e. Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and Word)
Active DoD Secret clearance
Familiarity with the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System (BMEWS) Precision Acquisition Vehicle Entry (PAVE) Phased Array Warning System (PAWS) (BPP) or other ground-based radars such as the Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS)

Salary Range: $92,000-$138,000
