Daily Responsibilities:

  • Maintains smooth operation of local area, world wide and virtual private networks (VPN)

  • Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network

  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.

  • May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings

  • Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions

  • Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems

  • May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment

  • May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 Years with Bachelors Degree from an accredited college in a STEM field of study; 3 Years with Masters Degree; 0 Years with PhD

  • The candidate must meet DOD 8570 IAT Level II certification requirements (Security+ CE, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA-Security)

  • The candidate must posses a basic understanding of network communication protocols and network routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP) and IP network troubleshooting

  • The candidate must posses basic knowledge of network testing methodologies using routers, switches, and firewalls

  • The candidate must posses knowledge of TCP/IP behavior, network communications, and routing protocols, network traffic analysis and troubleshooting experience

  • Teamwork skills and the ability to work with different teams, clients, and groups of staff members across an organization is also a basic qualification

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel applications

  • Must bea US Citizen with Secret Clearance AT HIRE

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) implementation experience

  • Juniper or Cisco certification. Analytical and problem-solving abilities
