Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Human Factors Engineer to join the team. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL, Colorado Springs or Roy, Utah and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.
What you will get to do:
The selected candidates will interact/communicate with the element and product level teams in the technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and supportability/effectiveness analyses for systems. Human Factors and Human System Integration analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, and test. The HFE ensures requirements allocation and interface definition studies translate to customer requirements for hardware and software HSI specification and could require functional analysis, timeline analysis, and detail trade studies.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Human Factors engineering and Human Systems Integration for command systems, operational equipment, maintenance tasks and training
Ensure compliance with specified sections of MIL-STD-1472G
Translate user research data into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences for system operators. Be flexible and iterate designs in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous, environments
Use one or more industry standard design and prototyping tools to create wireframes, visual designs, and interactive prototypes
Author/support the program documentation of the HFE products in a format consistent with US Military Data Item Descriptions (e.g. Human Engineering Design Approach Document - Operator, Human Engineering Test Plan, Human Engineering Test Report, etc.)
Integrate operator attributes to the system architecture, CONOPS, and use-case development using model-based systems engineering methodologies
Collaborate with team members and stakeholders across IPTs and with the user community

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a Human Factors, psychology human behavior, industrial design, graphic design or related discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of relative experience or Masters degree with 3 years of experience
Active DoD Secret clearance granted/investigated in the last 6 years
Must have the ability to obtain special program access
3+ years of experience in Huma Factors Engineering (HFE)
2+ years of experince in Human-Machine Interface (HMI)
Demonstrated experience with prototyping s/w tools and physical mock-ups
Experience in fast-paced work environment and ability to work in a team environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to segment, program and customer community
Ability to solve problems, analyze test results and drive tasks to completion
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Master's Degree in Human Factors or related discipline
Experience with Human Factors in a defense contracting environment (familiarity with Mil-Std-1472G and ANSI/HFES 100-2007), DoD UI/UX Design Experience
Familiarity with Human Factors modeling in NX/Jack, IMPRINT
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Experience on an Agile Software Development Team
Salary Ranges Minimum $ 97,400, Salary Maximum $115,000
