Northrop Grumman Engineer Systems 4 in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Northrop Grumman Corporation is a leading global security company providing innovative systems, products, and solutions in unmanned systems, cybersecurity, C4ISR, and logistics and modernization to government and commercial customers worldwide.

Northrop Grumman is looking for a System Engineer to join a contract in support of an Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) system integration effort. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

The responsibilities of this position are:

  • Identify solutions to gaps in current systems and software

  • Mature R&D solutions for evaluation in operational environments using Agile / DevOps practices

  • Integrate standalone applications into enterprise services

  • Reviewing and creating ICDs, creating a data dictionary

  • Working closely with the customer and other companies to understand and document their software architecture

  • Reviewing and evaluating enterprise system engineering practices and providing recommendations on changes

  • Defining messaging and services for data transmittal and reception using standards based formats (i.e. JMS, UCI, XML, XSD, JSON, etc)

  • Successful candidates must be able to work in a dynamic small team environment willing to perform multiple roles on the team, while being flexible to changing needs and demands

Basic Qualifications:

  • 9 Years with Bachelors in Science in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math); 7 Years experiencewith Masters; 4 Years experience with Ph.D.

  • Active Top Secret and ability to obtain SCI

  • Must have extensive knowledge of the System Engineering Life Cycle and its relationship to other disciplines and functions

  • Experience working as part of a Software Engineering effort

  • Ability to guide the analysis of high-level needs and develop a structured and logical approach to refine the need into an integrated set of requirements that leads to a fielded product

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills, demonstrated by frequent and successful application of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques

  • Ability communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings

  • Proven interaction in a team environment

  • Excellent communications skills (written and oral) - Ability write and implement engineering plans within a project

  • Able to represent the organization as a technical point of contact for external personnel and leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Agile and DevOps Practices

  • Experience in Modeling and Simulation

  • Knowledge and experience with Unix OS

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment environments and tools

  • Ability to interface effectively with users, customers, management, and other engineering personnel

  • Experience working in direct support of system operators

  • Familiarity with Space Systems

  • Familiarity with Command and Control Systems

  • Familiarity with Battle Management Systems
