Northrop Grumman Information Systems Sector is seeking an Associate Field Engineer/Field Engineer to join our team in Colorado Springs, Colorado .

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Development and Sustainment Contract (DSC) in support of the Missile Defense Agency at Schriever AFB and related Colorado Springs GMD sites. The GMD element, composed of the Ground Systems (GS) and Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) components, is a critical part of our nation's layered Ballistic Missile Defense System providing the U.S. with the capability to engage and intercept long range ballistic missiles during midcourse flight. The GS component provides the capability to process data received from radars and overhead sensors, communicate across a complex network of redundant nodes, interact with the Warfighter, compute intercept solutions, and command and direct the GBI to intercept.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with on-site Customer and Product Teams to schedule and perform required maintenance actions.

  • Coordinate with on-site Customer and Product Teams to resolve anomalies, document and perform troubleshooting and corrective maintenance procedures.

  • Track maintenance anomalies and associated metrics.

  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, CSU/DSUs, firewalls, KIVs, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.

  • Conduct daily GMD Communications Network (GCN) management and communications circuit activities on classified and unclassified LAN and WAN infrastructure in and around the Colorado Springs Network Operations Center (NOC) responsible areas.

  • Perform required logistics functions to maintain operational readiness.

  • Perform as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in GCN operations and procedures for GCN console operators.

  • Support on-duty console operators with initial troubleshooting assistance, review of operator checklists and procedures and coordination with external assets.

  • Trouble ticket resolution.

  • Candidate must be willing to work during occasional varied shifts, including holidays and weekends, and on-call as necessary.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with variety of military and contractor personnel required.

  • No relocation assistance.

Qualifications:

This position can be hired as an Associate Field Engineer (level1) or a Field Engineer (level 2)

Basic Qualifications

Candidates without current Secret clearance and current IAT Level 2 certification cannot be considered.

  • Level 1 - High School/GED and 5 years of relevant experience; 3 years of relevant experience with an Associate's Degree; 1 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree.

  • Level 2 - High School/GED and 7 years of relevant experience, 5 years of relevant experience with an Associates Degre; 2 years with a Bachelors Degree.

  • DOD Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret, SCI.

  • IAT Level 2 certification (CompTIA Security+).

  • Knowledge of local area networking (LAN) fundamentals with specific experience working with CISCO Ethernet routers, switches and protocols in TCP-IP based communications systems.

  • Experience with UNIX/LINUX command line interface.

  • Knowledge of UNIX, SNMP and HP OpenView applications.

  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn and ability to work unsupervised at remote sites with a diverse group.

  • Ability to work effectively on a small team.

  • Ability/willing to be available on call and work after normal duty hours for mission critical system responses when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent experience with the Ground Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program, especially GMD Communications Network (GCN) functionality.

  • Experience working with DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency) and related circuit monitoring and repair processes.

  • Knowledge of and experience in Agile Kanban methodology.

  • CISCO Router/Switch specific experience and familiarity with associated maintenance actions/approaches.

  • Understanding of KIV-19 M and KG175 operations.

  • Experience with OSPF and Multicast routing protocol.

  • Experience with Intelligent Path Switching (IPS) devices.

  • Experience with HP OpenView product.

  • Experience working with Sun Solaris platforms.

  • Experience with VMWare and next generation CISCO and encryption technology.

  • Process orientation and strong skill in using and following documented processes and checklists.

  • Knowledge of military command, control and communication systems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Level 1: Salary Minimum: $50,240 - Salary Maximum: $75,360

Level 2: Salary Minimum: $61,360- Salary Maximum: $92,040
