Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Staff Strategic Planning Engineer Level 5 to lead facility planning efforts supporting existing program facility growth and new program facility requirements for the Aerospace Structures Business Unit (ASBU). The position is in Clearfield, Utah.
In this position you will plan and maintain the facility strategic plan for ASBU. This includes providing facility requirements for proposals, revising facility requirements for existing programs, and maintaining the overall facility plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies factory and office space needs based on program or proposal scope of work.
Captures manufacturing process scope.
Provides all facility requirements to the program proposal teams.
Identifies equipment needs and builds facility layout options.
Recommends multiple site options for the work scope based on requirements.
Supports Space Planning with maintaining current program site maps.
Submits proposal capital items to the Long-Range Strategic Capital Plan for the business unit.
Summarizes facility cost estimates for proposals.
Works with Facility Engineering to maintain an active equipment cost estimate database.
Presents new program requests at Space Planning Utilization Request board meetings.
Evaluates new program facility requests and determines if they align with the strategic plan.
Maintains a strong tie to the Program Industrial Engineers and the associated headcount and equipment utilization data.
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) discipline with 12 years of experience in the following fields: Manufacturing, Production, Industrial, Facilities, Process, Aeronautics, Aerospace, Design, Civil and Mechanical OR Masters in STEM field with 10 years of experience in mentioned fields, OR PHD with 9 years’ experience in mentioned fields.
Must be a US citizen.
Hold an active DoD Secret Security Clearance within 5 years of last investigation.
Preferred Qualifications :
Highly organized with strong oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
Strong understanding of aircraft assembly and composites manufacturing processes.
Knows how to translate product requirements into facility requirements.
Strong understanding of aircraft assembly and composites design.
Facility and process design experience.
Understanding of the existing facilities and equipment at ASBU.
Ability to make smart judgement calls with limited information for writing facility and equipment specifications.
Ability to make smart judgement calls with limited information for staffing calculations and facility need calculations.
Ability to quickly fill knowledge gaps on the fly through networking and industry research.
Ability to organize and lead meetings.
Cost estimating experience.
Strong business system skills and strong database/spreadsheet skills.
High level understanding of electrical, mechanical, and structural needs for production equipment and tooling.
Ability to acquire and maintain clearances on multiple programs.
Strong understanding of learning curves and equipment capacity calculations.
Revit and AutoCAD drafting experience.
Has applied knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project). Strong understanding of ICD-705.
Salary Range: $129,500 - $194,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
