Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Materials and Process Engineer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Clearfield, Utah.

The selected candidate will participate in the following essential Functions:

  • Responsibilities will be focus on Material and process engineering.

  • Person selected may also be involved with integrated product team.

  • Support development and production operations.

  • Review and write material specifications and product specifications

The selected candidate should be able to work in an integrated product team and support cutting edge development and production activities. The successful candidate will be able to work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable working in a fast pace environment and be able to collaborate closely with system, manufacturing, design, and analysis engineers.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) and 5 years minimum of applicable M&P experience

  • Material and Process Engineering experience in aerospace composite and metallic material systems

  • Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance

  • Must have the ability to obtain a special program access clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret DoD Clearance within 5 ½ years of last investigation

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering

  • Material and Process Engineering experience in aerospace composite material systems

  • Experience in composite materials testing methods and documentation, detailed testing procedures, failure modes, environmental effects, and bonded composite joints

  • Prior composite fabrication experience and planning shop processes including: material layup, cure, trim, NDI, bonding, and assembly

  • Supporting administration of aerospace material qualification and material allowables specifically composites materials and bonded joinery

  • Experience designing / supporting an aerospace manufacturing process with the necessary materials, tooling, and equipment

  • Experience supporting composite primary and secondary structures, metallic, vendor supplied material certifications, approved materials list, and support forensic activities as required

  • Functional knowledge of root cause / corrective action processes and techniques

  • Functional knowledge of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)

  • Functional knowledge of production control systems (SAP/Visual Mfg/etc)

  • Experience addressing manufacturing discrepancies through a formal MRB process

  • Skilled in working with Microsoft Office applications, Teamcenter, and NX10
