Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is searching for a mid-career Principal Industrial Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Clearfield, UT . This position will be filled for a Level 3 Industrial Engineer.

The Industrial Engineering Team is an integral part of day-to-day operations and routinely works alongside many other organizations. This is a team that comes together to learn, collaborate, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

  • Analyze shop floor data and develop metrics for daily performance management, i.e. daily earns, efficiency, WIP, cost and schedule

  • Provide capacity planning, rate tool analyses, and facility layouts to ensure the ongoing success of composite operations

  • Provide support to the manufacturing floor by working proactively with cross-functional teams to understand frontline problems and implement cost-saving, impactful solutions

  • Develop and iterate on detail production build schedules by working closely with Production Operations

  • Partner with manufacturing management to develop and track recovery plans that instill confidence with program management and customers, even through unforeseen challenges

  • Apply systems thinking in the development of metrics to improve product flow from the release of raw materials through product delivery

  • Work with program leadership to assess what-if scenarios and guide long-term strategic decision making

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) with 5 or more years of experience in an Aerospace, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing environment; OR Master of Science Degree with 3 or more years of experience in an Aerospace, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing environment; OR 0 years with a PhD

  • Ability to work on an assembly floor

  • Experience with MS Project, Excel & PowerPoint

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance, including Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering

  • Experience with Excel, including macros, data mining, and pivot tables

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a shop floor manufacturing environment

  • Experience with data analysis and report programming (SQL, MS Access, Bus. Objects, PowerBI or Tableau)

  • Active DoD clearance

Salary Range: $82,000 - $123,000

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
