Northrop Grumman Operations-Manufacturing Manager III (Must have current and active secret cleareance to be considered) in Clearfield, Utah

Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.

As an Operations Manager, you will manage a team of Operations Supervisors over our Aerospace Structures programs and will be responsible for the combined strategic (long-term) and tactical (short-term) management planning activities.

  • Has overall responsibility for execution of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives, along with Employee Engagement for a large organizational unit with-in the Military Structures composites manufacturing Center of Excellence. (COE)

  • Strong focus on safe work environment, Zero Defects, and continuous improvement activities

  • Manages both the strategic and short-term tactical activities of the work area

  • Optimizes product flow, production rates, and product mix to meet customer demands, improve inventory turns and drive month over cost improvement

  • Responsible for proactive resource management to mitigate production schedule risks

  • Support a work environment characterized by employee involvement and participative management to encourage the highest level of employee commitment and cooperation

  • Manage staffing levels in the plant to support customer requirements while maintaining efficient operations

Qualifications:

Experience & Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma and 8-10 years manufacturing experience with 5 years of leadership required

  • Requires current DoD clearance with a maximum of 5 years from last investigation

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience managing 50 or more direct reports

  • Demonstrated success managing and developing employees in a leadership role

  • Demonstrated success leading lean transformation in an organization

  • Proven experience with mid to high rate production programs

  • Strong working knowledge of composites manufacturing processes

  • Requires exceptional leadership skills and proven ability to lead a large team of employees

  • Demonstrated consistent use of the following competencies: composure, delegating, interpersonal savvy, planning, time management, timely decision making, presentation skills, business acumen and managing through systems.

  • Demonstrated use of production control tools (e.g., schedule, MRP, manpower forecasts)

  • Demonstrated success in leading teams to consistently meet customer expectations (demand, quality and cost)

  • Demonstrated commitment to creating and maintaining a safe work environment

  • Understanding and use of root cause analysis

  • Demonstrated success in maximizing resources and throughput

  • Demonstrated ability to remove waste from production process

  • Experience managing Supervisors over touch labor employees in an Operations organization

  • Experience manufacturing Composites structures

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in management, engineering or other related disciplines

  • Experience in implementing continuous improvement

  • Experience in Manufacturing/Operations Leadership Financial / Business Acumen to include forecasting / labor / productivity / capacity planning Experience in Lean Manufacturing

  • Experience fabricating complex, high-temperature composite components

  • Experience scaling manufacturing from development to full-rate production
