Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an opening for an Associate Elect rical Engineer or Electrical Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Clearfield, Utah . Clearance NOT required to start.
In this role, you will be responsible for the design of power, controls and process instrumentation per the NEC. Provide detailed cost estimates for project design and implementation. Troubleshoot industrial electrical equipment. Develop electrical maintenance guidelines for industrial equipment. Integrate and specify electrical equipment for robotics, PLC's, servo drives and instrumentation.
Responsibilities include:
Design, build, support, and continue the development of automated manufacturing machines and systems.
Learn the details of currently implemented control system hardware and software for automated machines.
Assist maintenance personnel as needed when troubleshooting equipment.
Participate in development activities to improve capabilities and bring new ideas into projects.
Maintain documentation related to machine and systems design, fabrication, and proofing.
Some travel to fabrication vendors and other Northrop Grumman facilities required.
Oversee and direct day-to-day efforts of tradesmen during integration of system assemblies, cables, computers, PLC, electro-mechanical assemblies, instrumentation, and software into a complete system ready for checkout.
Inspect or direct the inspection of control hardware installation to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules
Prepare purchasing requisitions for system components as required.
Assist the project lead and group manager with system estimates, project reviews, project budgets, design and development of new system products.
Coordinate with other engineers and craftsman assigned to the project or a task, and reviews work progress and results
Support final test and checkout of system, including axis tuning and device calibration
Prepare the final system documentation (electrical drawings), system manuals, system operating procedures, system spare parts list and preventative maintenance schedule.
Requisition may be filled as an Associate Electrical Engineer (level 1) or Electrical Engineer (level 2) depending on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications:
Associate Engineer : Bachelor's degree in relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
Engineer : Bachelor's degree in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 2+ years' relevant experience; OR Master's Degree in relevant STEM discipline.
Knowledge of NEC standards
Knowledge of current Safety Standards used in Automation Control such as motion, laser scanner, and light curtains
Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software package
Experience generating electrical schematics
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience with Servo motors
Knowledge of UL-508 standards
Experience with electro-mechanical systems and their components
Experience with design, fabrication and installation of equipment and systems
Beckhoff PLC and Ether CAT equipment
Allen Bradley PLC and Ethernet systems
Industrial Safety Systems (ANSI B11 and/or IS013849)
Knowledge of Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatics, Heating (Electrical, Boiler)
Experience with Industrial Robots, preferred Kuka robots (KRC4 controllers)
Expertise to develop electrical schematics that are logical, well organized, and require little to no redlines

Salary Range: $60,600 - $91,000
Salary Range 2: $73,400 - $110,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
