Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Clearfield, UT.
The selected candidate will support composite design and manufacturing for both commercial and military programs. Work directly as a team with other internal engineering disciplines and departments to address/resolve manufacturing issues and to ensure the on-time delivery of structures and assemblies to both internal and external customers. Northrop Grumman supports a 9/80 work schedule with limited occasional travel to support company initiatives and program requirements.
The qualified candidate provides support to an assigned program under supervision of a Lead Engineer and the mentorship of other more senior level engineers
Under supervision, the candidate researches, develops, designs, tests, documents, and recommends solutions to mechanical/composite components and assemblies as assigned
Maintains and improves designs of existing mechanical/composite components, equipment, and systems in support of production deliveries
Applies sound mechanical engineering judgement, first principles, concepts, and techniques
Plans, performs, and directs engineering activities to ensure design, production, and testing conform to mechanical design specifications and requirements
Will also be responsible for gathering, maintaining, formatting, compiling, and manipulating technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics)
Conducts tests and records data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a hands on lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, technicians, and integration/test engineers.
Bachelor's in a STEM discipline and 1 year of experience or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline
Familiarity with Aerospace & Defense Industry
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain special program access clearance
Experience with 3D modeling software
Proficient with Microsoft office suite
Practical understanding of composite structures
General understanding of Aerospace practices, policies, and procedures
Detail orientated, self-starter, ability to work both independently and in a team environment
