Northrop Grumman Welder 1 in Charlotte, North Carolina

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for ensuring and maintaining high material integrity of iridium items used in crystal growth manufacturing

  • Blacksmithing activities including cleaning, reshaping, welding, repair, inspection, and overall maintenance of precious metal items of various sizes, mostly crucibles and lids

  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all processes related to crucible repair and maintenance

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies necessary to keep welding area safe, clean, orderly, and efficient

  • Participate in lean manufacturing team initiatives

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the area supervisor

RequiredQualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Experience welding of non-ferrous metals such as gold, aluminum, and iridium

  • Experience in soldiering and brazing copper

  • Experience with hydrogen, oxy-acetylene torch, sandblasting, and pneumatic equipment

  • Effectively use standard hand tools & measuring devices, calipers, rulers, etc.

  • Must be mechanically inclined and able to lift 50 pounds

  • Must have computer experience and be able to work effectively with spreadsheets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in a technical discipline

  • Welding Certification (AWS, ASME or equivalent)

  • 3-5 years TIG welding experience
