Northrop Grumman Space System Sector is looking for an experienced Manager Mechanical Engineering 2 to join the Mechanical Engineering team within Launch Vehicles at the Chandler, AZ facility.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the overall efforts of approximately 30 people, including 4 managers.
Responsible for managing technical, schedule, cost, and resources across all areas in engineering and CAD across our Space Launch Vehicle product lines (Antares, Minotaur I/II/IV, Pegasus). This includes identifying and addressing program risks to ensure launch success, mentoring staff in problem solving, facilitating technical solutions based on heritage and similar vehicles, providing staff with the appropriate resources to solve problems, tracking Program and Department schedules, working to identify key parameters and metrics to increase efficiency and reduce Program costs, plan manpower requirements, and performing quarterly and annual performance reviews of staff.
Will provide direction and guidance in the areas of responsibility, perform validation (when necessary) of a variety of specific professional engineering tasks of an analysis, design, or test nature.
Apply theoretical knowledge and engineering techniques to the solution of various engineering problems.
Select and/or modify proven methods, mathematical formulas, previous design and test information, handbook data or other available information related to the assignment.
Candidate must be able to provide direction and address issues using skills obtained in the field of Mechanical Engineering preferably as it relates to missile and space systems.
Must have prior Manager experience in the field of Launch Vehicles.
Ability to perform fundamental analytical modeling techniques and prepare written analyses is required.
U.S. citizenship required and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Physics. MSME, MSAE preferred.
Minimum of eight years of experience in aerospace or related field.
