Astro Aerospace, a StrategicBusiness Unit of Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems, is currently in search ofan EHS Engineer 4 to support our Facilities/EHS group in our Carpinteria, CAfacilities. Astro is the industry leader in space deployable systems, andsince 1958, Astro Aerospace has enabled complex missions to Earth orbit, Marsand beyond with innovative deployable space structures and mechanisms. Ourproducts have been successfully employed on hundreds of space missions with100% successful deployments in space.
The EHS Engineer 4 will be responsible for the following:
Briefing of Astro's Safety Orientation and General Safety & Environmental rules to new employees and contractors.
Issuance of hot work permits.
Collection and approval of MSDS (SDS) documents and inputting into company online database.
Coordination and management of the disposal of hazardous materials.
Ensuring applicable air quality permits are obtained from local Air Quality Management District.
Review and interpretation of existing and proposed EHS regulations to determine applicability and impact to facilities of responsibility. Implement programs to comply.
Serve as a liaison to regulatory agencies.
Partner with business leaders to continuously improve culture, awareness and accountability in support of EHS targets and procedures.
Provide timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to the company and regulatory agencies.
Compose and update EHS plans and procedures.
Apply for new permits and renewals.
Conduct audits and identify actions necessary to prevent injuries and to meet regulatory requirements.
Coordinate EHS and instructor-led EHS training for new employees.
Support sector environmental sustainability program.
Implement EHS management systems sector-level documentation.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental or Safety Science, or related field and a minimum of nine (9) years of experience in an EHS position.
Advanced computer based skills specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with all levels of an organization are a must.
Ability to solve complex problems by: actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources; consistently looking for novel ways to solve problems; mastering unfamiliar information; tasks and situations quickly and effectively.
