Northrop Grumman Engineering Technician 4 - Test in Buffalo, New York
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician for our Buffalo, NY office.The Engineering Technician will develop testing methodologies, assist in process management, and conduct testing and troubleshooting on electronic systems. The Technician will lead the testing of components of Electronic Warfare simulation systems through direct contribution and also by supporting less experienced technicians.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Create new test procedures for RF assemblies, and review existing procedures to recommend improvements for efficiency and completeness.
Create and maintain process documents including directives, test guides, flow charts, block diagrams, etc.
Train new team members on test procedures and processes.
Review quality of work of less experienced staff and sign off on their work.
Provide direction to less experienced team members to maintain schedule and drive priority within immediate area of test.
Support managers when increased area oversight is needed, such as in times of absence and/or high workloads.
Assist in creating new metrics for evaluating performance within immediate area.
Assist in preparation of monthly business review material and content for reporting up and brief presentations during the manufacturing group level review.
Identify areas of improvement, and support the implementation and roll out of improvement initiatives.
Assist with management of test equipment resources including tracking of loaned equipment, calibration, and repairs.
Assist with conducting interviews for test technicians during periods of hiring.
Perform testing and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and subassemblies including RF drawers, discrete RF components, microelectronic parts, and circuit card assemblies.
Diagnose test failures using schematics, wiring diagrams, source control drawings and other test procedures and equipment.
Occasionally perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
All work is done in accordance with technical specifications and engineering instructions.
Associate's degree (or similar 2 year Technical degree) in a related discipline plus 6 years of experience in a technical related role; or 8 years of experience in a technical related role in lieu of a degree.
Experience testing RF components and troubleshooting RF and digital assemblies.
Experience working with microelectronics and performing tuning under a microscope.
Advanced experience working with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, signal source analyzers, function generators and power meters.
Hands-on use of schematics, drawings, wire lists, source control drawings, or test procedures.
Ability to work independently.
Experience performing first article testing of RF components
Advanced technical knowledge of tuning and testing various types of drawers including APG technologies
Extensive experience troubleshooting RF drawer level failures using strong knowledge of MPC and CCA assemblies
Experience creating documentation in support of manufacturing test processes and procedures
Proficiency in using MS excel and power point for creating status tracking and presentations
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to represent manufacturing test organization to other functional groups including program management
Ability to work overtime during spikes in work load
